Does anyone use Marvel Mystery Oil in their oil or gas? Any big benefits that you have noticed?

i am happy to tell you i too used MMO and it worked very well. I had a stuck lifter and it was realllly annoying. I thought it was an exhaust leak at first. Two treatments of the MMO stuff. one quart per oil change and the noise is gone. Now i can hear everything else that makes noise.
sure cleaned out the motor and got the plumbing cleared up i'd imagine.
then i added some to my gas and now my fuel pump spins up nice and smooth instead of stuttering when i first turn key.
that MMO crap is good stuff. that is if you use it before problems get bad.
the first oil change i did and added a quart, my oil got dark pretty fast as it the engine was being cleaned of gunk. replace filter too. do this a couple of times.
i will use one quart per oil change for the next few changes i do and then leave it be.
benefits: smoother quieter engine, no more loud ticks, of course some ticking is normal, easier starts. that itself is worth the money to buy a 4.25 quart of MMO.
if you need repairs do them though, this is just to clear up small quirks.
i was a bit nervous to do the ATF cleaning method so I chose MMO. on the cotton farm my inlaws used it for years to get old tractors running. they told me that they had kept this MMO secret from asians like me for years but it was time to break me in. YOWWW!!!

How much do you add to your gas?

Not sure what happened to the link, but if you search the forum using "Marvel Mystery", you'll get a big bunch of hits (including this thread).

i had a 4 ozs or thereabouts to a half tank of gas. i do everything "approximately" and it seems to work fine for me. just dont go about dumping stuff everywhere.
good stuff. even smells nice. i would drink it if i were not able to read the bottle.

I have used it as well. I used a quart in an oil change on the wifes 98 Escort after she got it. That stuff cleaned the crap out of everything! We ran it in the motor for a full 3000 miles then changed it and went back to 5w30. When you look into the head its crystal clean. Everything in there shines. Zero sludge! I'm a believer in it!
Before the valves and springs had a tobacco brown coating on them. Now its all Aluminum and steel colored. No more brown stuff, just silver.

My Dad tells me stories of when he knew a guy that used it in His Boat Rental Business on Lake Michigan back in the 50's. He swore by it and I have used it as well, and it does work great!! It is not to be confused with Slick 50 type applications, but as an engine cleaner and improver of Engine performance by way of cleaning and restoring internal stuff. Inthe Tank, it works great as well.

Does this conflict with Engine restore? That is supposed to fill gaps in the cylinder walls, whereas this stuff is supposed to clean them.....or are they safe to use together?

I'm a MMO user/believer, but why do you want to use it...or engine restore...what are your symptoms?

Just mainly seeing what's inside of this 95 Engine with nearly 177,000 miles!

You might be better off using Auto-RX in the crankcase.

Ah, just getting a list of these products. Every time I change the oil I'll try something new!

Marvel Mystery Oil is mostly Naptha and Varsol. Techron is mostly Varsol with some Xylene. Seaform is mineral oil, isopropal alchohol and naptha. You could save some money and just buy the ingredients at the hardware store for 1/4 the cost.

run that stuff through there for a while. i have heard of things clearning up after a day and sometimes not for 2 weeks. it'll knock stuff loose and then you should do it again with new filter and oil. 2 times should do the trick depending on how gunky it is inside your motor.

Uae a quart of ATF for a hundred miles before you change the oil. ATF is extremely high detergent. A little in the gas does wonders for removing carbon as well. I put 300k on a Chevy 350 running leaded gas, because I had a pin hole in the tranny vacuum modulator. I had to add a quart of ATF every 4-5 tanks of gas.

good idea. i need a little more for my t-case. ill dump the rest into the engine.
thanks. i want to get as many miles out of this thing. i love it.

In that case, maybe you want to nix putting ATF in anything except your AT.

???. the transfer case takes ATF too. never put gear oil in.

Oh yeah. I meant I wouldn't put ATF in the crankcase or the gas tank. There are better things that aren't as harsh.
