Peta has demanded that Ben & Jerry's no longer use cow milk, and instead use human breast milk. Milking is too stressful on the cows.

don't believe me, here's the link to peta's web site http://www.peta.org/mc/NewsItem.asp?id=11993

here is peta's stance

Burlington, Vt. - This morning, PETA dispatched a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of ice cream icon Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace the cow's milk in their products with human breast milk. PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves. PETA points out to Cohen and Greenfield that such a move on their part would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health at the same time.........................................

The restaurant owner got into a bit of trouble about this before he had collected any milk and is not serving any food made with human breast milk.

To quote the PETA letter to Ben and Jerry's, "The breast is best!"

I think we can agree on that lol.

x2. Most of those "rescued" animals are just euthanized. How can they claim to want to protect them when they are putting them down behind closed doors?

I just let people like that go, no sense in trying to explain anything... they are already to screwed up to understand.

I thought for a minute it was something from The Onion. Maybe Peta should hire The Onion to do their PR. It would be funnier, and probably make more sense.

The joke is that cows are domestic animals, could they even survive in the wild? If we didn't raise them for food, they'd go extinct. Would the cows prefer THAT? Or maybe PETA thinks we should raise them for pets. Go fetch, Bessie!

Anyway most of the cows I see spend all day in the beautiful countryside eating and shitting. Tough life.

Ha, Jokes on them. I met and talked with Jerry Greenfield last week as he was at my school give a talk. Him and Ben sold the company a number of years ago, and while they still retain jobs in the company, they have no more authority in their company. Even if Ben and Jerry wanted to do that, they can't.

Man you guys are a bunch of debbie-downers. Its all good though 'cause I can't get aids from milking the ladies, and I can always use a bag (one of those "green" reusable grocery bags of course) for the ugly ones. And since we're doing the environmentally correct thing here, the milk will have to be hormone-free. Sorry Rich.

:gee:Not that many aids infested strippers up in Vermont. You might find the good milkers a bit chunky, but likely pretty wholesome.

Just watch out, though, and remember that Vermont is VERY tolerant of certain....ummmm...interactions....http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/10040.jpg

That's correct, last I knew B&J was owned by Unilever out of Germany, but I think they were trying to sell it.

I grew up in Williston, the town where Jerry lives. He's a flaming health nut, doesn't eat B&J, won't even eat tofu because it has too much fat. But he still gives everyone free ice cream at the annual town ice cream social so he's cool in my book. Ben is still chunky though.
