Moab Brewery is my favorite. Great beer and good food, too. Zax for pizza, Moab Diner for breakfast. City Market also has a variety of prepared foods.
There's plenty of choices, depends what you want...

Hmmm...I was gonna say that we weren't very impressed with Zax' pizza buffet. :dunno:
I like the Brewery too, and the Broken Oar. Eddie McStiff's is okay. And the Jailhouse Cafe is great for breakfast.

The Moab Brewery is a must -- good beer. Moab Diner has a pretty good breakfast. Bar-M Chuckwagon is interesting.
Skip Denny's.

I think Zax varies. If you go when they're busy and the pizzas are going quick, they are good. Don't do the buffet when they're slow, because those pizzas may have been there a while...
The Jailhouse Cafe is good, I think it used to be better back when they served 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee instead of the blended stuff.
And Bucks Grillhouse, right by Slickrock, is good for a nice dinner. We even had good service there.
It's been years since I've been to Eddie's, the beer wasn't too good.
Give me good beer and I'll forgive a lot of other shortcomings
And the Mavrick gas station has a good assortment of burritos to wrap in foil and throw on the manifold for a good trail lunch :D

The food at Moab Brewery is actually really good, too. I know I'll end up there a few different times.

Isabella's has been gone for at least a year now. :( I liked that place.
For mexican food stop by La Hacienda on the north end of town.

La Hacienda cracked me up when I went there and saw the white dude with ski goggles on cooking mexican food back in '05.

That sucks. I guess it has been over two years since I have been to Moab.

Moan Diner is great for breakfast.
City Market has the best salad bar and deli/sandwich bar this side of Whole Foods.
Milt's Stop & Eat... great burgers. Hole-in-the-wall dive.

the next time i'm out there we're going to that steak house right in front of SLCG.. last time i was there a bunch of us walked in and they gave us a huge attitude and wouldnt even seat us in groups of 2 at the empty tables.. we were a bit trail-worn from the day but not dirty. they just judged us as soon as we walked in and didnt seem to have room for us.. we knew it was BS because 2 of our guys got there a few mins before us and they were definately cleaner than we were and they were seated right away with no problems at all..
next time out we're making reservations and gonna show up there as dirty and stinky as possible..
after we were turned away we went up to the Sunset Restaurant up on the cliffs above town and they seated us after a short wait, a lil too classy of a place for us dressed in shorts and t-shirts but they were great and food was top notch..
i like the Moab Diner for at least one breakfast while in town and the Brewery is also a must..

Buck's has about the worst service of any restaurant in town. Hate it!
Sunset is very nice, great food, but pricey.

Recommendations for where to pick up lunch supplies in the morning on the way to the trail head, anyone?
Or are there quickie-marts at every gas station?

Considering that we generally marshall up in City Market's parking lot, I run in and grab lunch supplies there in the morning.
It's too bad that Mexican place closed on the north side of town a few years ago. Good food.

Last time i was there (03 for the 20th) seems like most days folks met up/staged at the City Market parking lot (City Market = a supermarket chain in the region, like Shaws in the NE or Lowes in the SE)
I saved my 'value card' and actually found it again last night (no, I didn't keep it on my keychain for five years) so if I can remember to bring it to Moab this time I'm all set for the deals of the day.
City Market had great pre-made sammiches and hot coffee BTW. Hope that still holds true.

My standard operating procedure is to gas up when returning to camp after a run. That way, I'm not fighting any lines at the gas stations in the morning. The morning of the run I pack water sodas and snacks from the motorhome, the head over to City Market. You really can't ask for a better place to get lunch. Pre-made sandwiches if you're in a hurry or custom made fresh sandwiches if you prefer. Huge, great salad bar as an alternative to sandwiches and all the snacks you'd ever want. It's just a big city supermarket catering to a healthier, outdoorsy appetite. Last stop before the checkstand, bags of ice for the cooler.
I usually share cooler space with somebody else on the same run. I'll pack our food in my cooler using frozen Blue Ice packs from the motorhome and we'll stock a separate cooler with ice and all the drinks. That way the drinks stay really cold and water doesn't get into the food.

The last time I ate at the diner my hamburger was burnt on the outside and frozen in the middle.

The Cheveron on the south end of town sells these kick ass sack lunches. They come with several different types of sandwiches, chips and usually a cookie.
