96 XJ Fails to Idle

Hello All-

I have a 96 XJ, automatic transmission,4.0, that will not idle on its own. I can start it and keep it running by pressing on the accelator pedal but once I let off of the pedal, it will stall. When the engine is running, I can race it and all seems to be fine until I let off the accelator pedal and it will not idle on its own. One day it was working fine and the next it wasn't. Would this problem be associated with the idle speed acuator motor? Is this a difficult thing to replace if it is the problem? I appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

Sounds like the IAC to me, easy to replace too. Right on the front of the throttle body.

most times the iac just needs to be cleaned along with the throttle body.

IAC or TPS. Clean throttle body while you're in the area....

If not try your CPS.

The CPS is always related to the engine cranking and not starting or random stalling while driving. It has little or nothing to do with idle or the idle quality.
