Bought my first Jeep

We went here, http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=123 , for my first four wheeling experience, note its a 3 out of 10 for difficulty. We then went here, http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=36 , note its a 6 to an 8. This was in two stock XJ's. I am not sure how we made it I had a blast. I think at one point I ran out of adrenaline. It took us 7.5 hours to go about 8 miles. All this while the clouds were building. I just new if it rained we would be camping another night, missing work.

Here is where I was convinced we would be turning around. Of course the guy I was with swore that it would take us forty five minutes to get into the town of Georgetown and on our way home, instead of the two hours + to get back down the way we had came, it ended up taking over five hours.

I had a blast, and the jeep, well it may just be the best 850 bucks I have ever spent.

COOL-- Bought my first XJ in April of "84". After picking it up from the dealer, the wife and I, along with a freind in his Willys Overland. took it on it's first trail (6+), with 27 miles on the odomiter. I went home and put my 3 CJ5s up for sale. Used the money for a winch and lift kit. I'm still hooked on them. Glad you had a good time!

sorry to say, we didnt turn around made it all the way up and back down to georgetown. A better 'wheeler than you, i doubt it, a bit stupid for the attempt/finish of it, maybe

Sorry, I read the above as you having stopped and turned around. Congrats on completing the trail!

Hey man. I wheeled a stocker for years at my own peril. It's amazing what a stock XJ will do. Still, I finally I got smart (see sig) and tired of getting knocked around all of the time.

I would really like to not spend "too Much" money on this thing but I can tell the modifications will be addicting, like with my car. I would love to get a 2" lift though I am not really sure which to go with. the jeep will be my transportation to and from work so I dont want to go nuts. 2" new tires and maybe a few skid plates, rock sliders will do for me... Any suggestions on an inexpensive lift would be great:party:

Honestly, I'd search Modified Tech. You'll get tons of info on how to do a good lift on a budget. In my case, I saved for years and waited for my 28in tires to wear out to get the lift and the 31's.

tagging along here, seems like the bastard s10 packs and some 3" coils up front is a popular option, anyone around here tried this?
