Katy asked if she could have a new dog.
I told her no, very emphatically.

She decided to bribe me. So the jeep and I will be happy this winter.

Rock Krawler steering and track bar setup
Viair, constant duty OBA system.
extended brake lines.

and front gears and a locker are already on their way.:guitar:

Congrats man. I'm sure the 4 of you (Katy, dog, Jeep, and you) will be happy.

Is she at least gonna rescue some poor critter that will die if it doesn't get loved??

Yep.

Well today was a waste. I decided early this morning to hit the pull a part in Lafayette for a spare housing. So I can build my ultra stupid 30 and not have my jeep out of commission for a week or 2, and just swap in the new axle when it is finished.

Pull a part had 10 xj's, 2 1986 v-6, 2 4wd, 1 that still had a front axle and hadn't been picked up onto stands yet, axle un-retrievable.

Searched for a mirror for my cousins car. 10 1999 model Taurus, 0 2002 model taurus ( the one I needed).

Searched for mirror adjustor covers for my eclipse. 5 1994 models, 1 completely stripped 1995 ( the one I needed. 1 eagle talon wrong color interior.

Searched for a chevy truck clutch hose for an external hyd clutch. Found 1 out of 10 chevy trucks with a standard tranny that still had the tranny. Spent an hour getting the hose out and found that it had a crimp and was useless.

Went to Baton Rouge for the pull a part there. Zip, zilch, nada. no 4wd xj's, 1 completely stripped 1995 eclipse, no chevy trucks with std trans, 1 2001 taurus missing mirrors and doors.

Skunked at the junkyard. The UPS man needs to hurry up and bring me some happiness in a box.

2 '86's with V-6???? *perks!* Can I send you a parts list? LOL

I just gotta ask why you stripped the Eclipse though??

goodburbon
September 20th, 2008, 17:37
Yeah hit me with a parts list and maybe I can hit up the pull a part tomorrow.

MischiefMan
September 20th, 2008, 20:07
LOL...I honestly don't know what I need except the air induction tubes and valves that come out of the exhaust manifolds. Other than that, the '86 is complete....I think :P and ready to be made into a trail rig.

(I'm struggling between wheeling that giant tank with the 360 in it or the lil Cherokee)

Very Cool!

But why have OBA on a 2WD?? LOL

September 28th, 2008, 20:40
Can you take a pic of the OBA? I have been wondering where it goes and what it looks like in there.

goodburbon

I made a speaker box that matches the angle of the back seat, is flush with the top and sticks out about 5 inches. I mounted it to the top of that. No room underhood and I didn't want to use any more cargo space.

I wish I could get my wife to even make dinner after I get home. I am good at getting at making patato salad sandwiches.

MischiefMan
October 2nd, 2008, 05:55
Well, maybe if you made her something better than potato salad sandwiches she'd make you dinner occasionally.

Besides, shouldn't it be breakfast that she's making for you?

on the plus side I have a really neat trac bar installed now. Would've been a helluva lot easier to install if i hadn't welded in my RC track bar drop bracket, well that part only took an extra 20 seconds. I did sit scratching my head for about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to hold the nut on the back of the axle side mount. Couldn't fit a crescent, socket, box end, or open end wrench, vise grips, clamps...all a no go. I was finally able to wiggle a 22mm crows foot into that hole and around the nut. It was pretty straightforward from there.

Where?

goodburbon

Between my steering box and track bar bracket. I think I should be able to weld it up then plate the area with a piece of angle iron.

I just would like to make a report of Jeep abuse. This morning, Brandon told me to pull my Jeep up to the front of his parents house because there was a dead opossum that he needed to "do something with", so he wanted to put it on my hood and take it to the back of the property...well I, said in the nicest way possible, "to hell with that". I dropped him off and began to back away to keep said rotting corpse from being placed onto my wonderfully clean Jeep :) Well, Brandon started to run towards me...so my first reaction is to go backwards faster. So, what does my wonderful husband do? He THROWS this dead, stinky, rotting, maggot infested opossum at my Jeep! This was not a tiny animal. It hit my drivers side door with a big thud and sprayed maggots and nasty opossum hair all over my Jeep! I was not happy about this one bit. Alex was in the back seat and after this liittle incident, he was dropping some F-bombs at his daddy :) Oh, and after I made him wash my door off twice, we get home and I look at the rear drivers side door and there is fur and maggots still splattered on the back end of the Jeep. I just don't think that my poor baby deserved to have a dead animal thrown at her... Can you have a chapter president impeached? Because I would vote for it :P :hang:
