View Full Version : Portable toilets- who has used one?

I have to buy one for an upcoming trip to Canyonlands (per NPS regs, not my choice) so I might as well buy a good one. Who has actually used one? Those PETT toilets look like they will store in a much smaller space than a Lugable Loo (a 5 gallon bucket w/ a seat), but are they worth $90 vs $20?

Thanks!

The PETT system would (and will) be my choice. The bio bags are environmentally friendly (probably another requirement in canyonlands?) and can be kept seperately outside. Fold and stow the seat.

vs...

Having a bucket in the back sloshing around. :scared:

Canyonlands stupidly requires it now.

I guess lizard, coyote, mountain lion, fox, squirel, chipmonk, deer, elk, bird, cubacabra, bobcat, bear, and moose shit are more biodegradable the humans.

Go Park Service!!!!

Gotta love um.

We went to the Maze years back and just acted like we had one when they asked. Dont think they are gonna come out and put eyeballs on it. 90 bucks vs. Shovel and lighter.

Alex, try this.......http://www.2daloo.com/poo_man.htm

You can always go for the reciever hitch seat with a plastic bag underneath with cat litter in it, get you a large camo pocho to give you some privacy....:passgas:

This will prolly suit you better.
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/browse/browse.asp?c=85&s=438

For under $50 you can have the 5 gal bucket To-To and enclosure that will double as a shower. Get some bucket liners and cat litter to put in the bottom of the bucket liner prior to "making a deposit in the Bank of Porcelaina" and then throw the loaded bag in an unsuspecting fellow wheeler's cooler.......

Just got back from Bullfrog, awesome scenery in the area.....I'm gonna have to plan on making the Loose Screws Tour next year.

The SoCal chapter owns a PETT that gets passed around for various runs. In places like Johnson Valley and the Rubicon Trail, it is a must have.

steal a toilet seat from a public restroom or a mcdonalds, duct tape it to a bucket, and use a kitchen garbage bag in the bucket. tie the bag shut and leave it in the bucket until a trash is found, or use it as artillery in traffic.

Thanks Jeff and Bryon, I'm going to get one of those PETT toilets. Maybe the local Sportsmans Wherehouse has one, otherwise I'll try Campmore. Anybody have a membership?
