Rear Quarter guards

I don't like the look of any of the ones available so what would be the downside to using .5" UMHW sheet instead of steel? Would the .5" still provide the right protection but still be slick enough to not dig in?

I used 1/4 inch, stuff just slides off, haven't had anything dig in yet, I used rivets to attach , pm me for pics of my setup. I did all four doors and the quarters, and integrated a push- pop style fuel door meant for a 07 ram

It would work great with rocker protection, oh and yeah, don't use so many rivets
