Im lookin for some recommendations on exterior accessories... right now my xj looks alright and sounds alright with the lift and exhaust but all i have on the exterior is a billet grill and some stickers... so i was lookin for some ideas from you guys on how to make it look a little meaner...( i don't have tons of cash so ARB bull bar and 750 dollar warn rear bumper are not going to be feasable)
thanks for whoever posts!

Do a search on Ridgidco and JCR Offroad, both make very well priced front bumpers that make a dramatic change to the look of the XJ from the front and sides. Same with the back end. Safari rack w/lights also changes the lines.

i guess im not old enough to be a member.. they accepted me for about a week had my name in red and got a sticker on my backwindow that says im a member but they revoked it..
when running wires from roof mounted fogs to th switches in dash how do you get them there? dou drill under the roof rack runn the wires and then silicon the hole?
also ive seen many xjs with fogs (mostly hella 500) on the two bigger parts of the stock front bumper.. are those just drilled on there or is there a special tab?
thanks again

That's right, I remember you now. You'll get it back when you turn 18.

thats cool. im sure it'll be back to red when you are no longer jail bait.
on the serious side, try the metal tail light boxes and maybe LED lights. just make sure to check with local laws and regulations before doing this mod as some states realy frown upon this kind of mod.

Just some basics, fog and driving lights require relays, all a relay is is a remote operated switch, nothing more. As for wiring, when you put lights up on the roof on say a safari rack you generally bundle the wires into one of those split looms, then open your doors, look between the front and back door and you will see a couple of plastic plugs that will allow you to run the wires into the B pillar, then it's a matter of running them up to the power source and relay. With the fogs under the bumper it's a matter of installing a mechanical switch, following the instructions that Hella gives and you will end up with ONE wire from the switch that you run thru the firewall to up near the battery which is where you mount the relay. The Hella relays have built in fuses depending on the model relay, makes it a tad neater. Then you mount the lights, run the wires back to the same relay and hook everything up.
As for mounting, pre 97's have holes in the front bumper top, 97+ XJ's have mounting holes under the bottom of the bumper where the cutouts are.
The aftermarket bumpers will have either tabs or holes for mounting.

if you want a little cleaner approch to this so you dont have a wire going between your doors.
if you head over to westmarine they have fittings that are designed to allow you to pass wires through a surface while keeping them sealed and water tight.

theres a link. they do have a couple other sizes for different guage wire. Ive used these myself although not on my xj yet but i havent had a problem with them leaking. i do plan on useing them for my lights and maybe even my antennas depending on how i wind up mounting them.
