Modifying fixed RE control arms

I'm curious to know if anyone has modified their RE 4.5" fixed control arms to become 'adjustable' control arms. I was hoping that I could chop my control arms, weld in an insert into one end (http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rustys&Product_Code=RT&Category_Code=cus), and pick up a couple threaded rubber ends(http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/mercha...stys&Product_Code=RC-SI214&Category_Code=cus).

I figure I could probably do this to my existing control arms for approximately $130...

Now that I think of it, RC has adjustable lower control arms for $159.... I'm just not sure if they will extend far enough. The reason why I'm wanting to do this is because I need to rotate my axle down, and my alignment shoes are maxed out. My truck has 4.5" RE lift, with 2" coil spacers... Last time i looked up the appropriate length (16.5") of control arms for the lift I have, and they're right...

So what do you think? Can I do this? has anyone else done this?

Thanks!

I have bds uppers and lowers, they were rather inexpensive through a buddy at lordco, lowriders.ca carries roughcountry, jeapthrills in maple ridge carry rubicon express as well as national 4wd centers in langley. Are you adjusting for driveshaft angle or alignment angles?

My cheapa$$ crusty's have something ridiculous like 4" of adjustment, so I'm sure the RCs will do what you want.

And I'll bet you can sell the RE's for more than the $30 you'll save cuttin em up...

Yeah they should be long enough. I just received my RC adjustable LCA's and half threaded in, they're longer than my fixed RE LCA's.

I'm running 7" of lift with RE 4.5" lift control arms and drop brackets, and the arm lengths are perfect.

Put that money towards drop brackets and be done with it.
