engine stumbling

ok so lately i have had an issue with my XJ where right after starting i put it in drive and give it a lil throttle and it stumbles and doesnt really move and i hear a few pops and then it might go or might keep doin it for a few more seconds but it i stomp on the throttle it will go just fine. whether i stomp on it or just let it do its thing it will go away within the first 5 mins of running and then the problem goes away and wont do it again until i turn the jeep off and then turn it back on again. the check engine light has gone off once b4 but i forgot to right down the codes b4 i erased them with my code reader. the light has come back on so when i get some time ill read them and write them down and put them on hear to help
