upgrading transfer but which one

i have 84 cherokee with the gm 2.8l v6 with the BW T5 transmission and the np207 transfer case. my 4 lo grinds and it might be linkage problems or worst. 2wd and 4 hi are fine. i want to upgrade but i dont know what spline count i have i also not sure what would fit. i figure a NP231 or NP242. i just dont know which is best or what will fit.

any ideas?

Have you checked your linkage to see if the grinding was from that. Been the case in the past with a few fokes I know. You will want to find out your spline count before you start looking also
