Hey gang,

My little brother and I were kicking around the idea of a day trip on Mem Day. It's been too long since I've hit the dirt, and even though I can't afford the gas (my bro is spotting me), I really feel the need to get away from all of the stresses of every-day life right now.

We're both open/open, so we might bypass John Bull. I'm thinking Holcomb or Deep Creek in the AM, then lunch, then maybe Gold Mountian? I dunno, we're open to options.

Anyone feel like joining us? Let us know! Probably leaving the SoCal area (near Disneyland) around 7 or 8. :flipoff:

You mean Labor Day? :)

Holcomb is still closed, so there's goes that option.

Glad to see you still around Sean.

man, missed us by a week. we went up with like 10 people last weekend. Tried john bull, there was some toyota group taking literally an hour and a half just on the first hill. couldn't run it because they weren't really moving and we couldn't pass.

we did some high speed dirt roads and we went to the lake instead. really nice weather out there, you'll have lots of fun.

I'm still around, haven't had the funds to drive the Jeep at all - let alone wheel it. Had a psycho ex GF move out and steal the rent money along with a couple grand worth of stuff, still trying to recover financially. Oh well, shit happens. lol.

I guess Holcomb is out. I'm scared to try Bull because I haven't run it in years. I guess we'll do Deep and Gold (no, that's not a porn title). If you wanna hook up for the run, let me know by Monday 6am! :)

Dude I ran John Bull in May right after the WayWeGo trail team (or whatever they're nameis) came through with a Bulldozer and rearranged the entire trail to make it "tougher". I had never ran the trail before and im open/open with 33's and 4.5 superflex kit, dude i walked through the entire trail with one exception having to change lines and reverse one time. It was a very fun trail and tons of fun. I advise to go and run it.

two words - traffic and traffic!!

There are tons of folks in the mtns this weekend and then the drive home will be crazy busy....

I was up there a year or two ago on Labor Day. It took me 4 hours to get home! It was worth it though. Wheeling was great, weather was great!

Have fun!

Holy cow...4 hours?! Gosh. I did have a camping weekend set aside in mid-Sept. Maybe it would be prudent to combine the 2 on that later weekend to avoid the crowds. Decisions, decisions! I tell you, if gas was still $2/gal there wouldn't be any choice to make at all - I'd already be up there. HAHA!

Hey Sean,

I was not trying to talk you out of it, just be prepared for heavy traffic on the way home. The trip is awesome. John Bull is a fun trail. You can run Gold Mtn and then go run John Bull. Great day trip! If my Jeep was ready I would probably join you.

Well, my GF has already been talking me out of it due to lack of gas funds. It would be best to wait until 9/13 as I have a pay-day in between. :)

Once I know for sure, I'll post up. Will your rig be ready by then, Robert? If you can manage to pull away for the weekend you're more than welcome!
