I'm doing a s-10 bastard pack and had a few questions as I try to order the parts I need. Anybody know off hand the width of an xj spring pack?

Anybody know how long the pin needs to be?

how about what u-bolt I'll need with the d35 and bastard pack?

I did a quick search and wasn't able to find this info - and I was hoping to get the parts ordered today... unless there might be a place in town that would carry them? Any suggestions where to look? I'd guess autozone or napa will have the u-bolts, but the rest I'm not sure where to start. I'm in the denver area-

Thanks,

Mike

I can't remember what size centerpin I used, but I just got a grade 8 bolt, and grinded the hex head round. Cheap and easy.
I'm not using any spring clips.

XJ leafs are 2 1/2" wide

Center Pins can be 5/16" or 3/8". As suggested, grinding a hex bolt will work. Using the same method for shaping TIG tip, chuck the hex bolt up in a drill and spin the bolt, grinding it with a bench grinder.
With the bolt head going in one direction and the grinder in the opposite, it does a decent job if you are careful.
Buy center pins long and then after the spring packs are assembled, cut off the excess.

You didn't mention it but you should use spring clamps of some sort to reduce spring wrap. You might be able to use the existing ones or may need to buy or make new ones.
See the link below for some ideas on this.
