Replacement winch solenoids

Say you buy an off brand winch or one that's maybe not so off brand, like Smittybilt. Anyway the weak link on a winch is often the solenoid. So let's say 10 years from now your solenoid needs replacing but you can't find the manufacturer. How hard is it going to be to replace the solenoid, IOW, is a solenoid application specific or will it be a matter of just running to the auto parts store, or somewhere in between?

Sorry if this is a dumb question buts its one I'd like to have an answer to before I chose a winch, the Smittybilt 8000 is one I am considering.

I have a EW-10000...and it's fine the winch is only a few months old but I have been wondering the same thing.
