Obama has introduced Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del) as his running mate.
What's funny about that? "Biden is a leader ready to step in and be President."
Now, how many ways can we read things into that, hm? Let's see...
- Obama is going to get convicted of perjury or other malfeasance, and kicked out of office.
- Obama is thinking he's likely to be assassinated (aren't we overdue anyhow? It wouldn't fit the pattern tho - he won't be elected in a year ending with zero. That's the usual pattern...)
Anyone else care to throw something in there? I'm sure I could come up with more, but I don't want to hog the ideas!

Seeing it announced as Obama-Biden on the news this morning kinda threw me, I thought I thought they were talking about Osama Bin-Laden at first, and I don't even subscribe to the whole "he's a muslim" crap either!

Biden actually seems OK as long as he is reading speeches from a decent writer. When he wings it, he often sounds like a radical. I followed what he had to say fairly closely when we invaded Iraq, he was one of the few who made much sense at the time.
Obama's roots are the Cicago political machine, which has a long hostory of being one of the most corrupt in the nation.
I bet they are already printing up T shirts with a circle, cross hairs and Obamas picture in them. If he gets elected the nuts are going to go nuts.

what i don't get is his whole campaign is on change. his camp has been riding mccain because he has been in DC for umpteen years, yet biden has been there longer.
the networks keep saying biden has this blue collar feel to him, since he was born in Scranton, PA. so if your born in a small town does that automatically make you a blue collar guy?
probably a good pick for Obama, I think a lot of middle of the road guys are worried he is a bit to left, and this will pull him to the center.

Oh jon this is so easy....
Biden = Cheney = Satan.
Afterall if Obama gets in I'm sure Joe will be a little uncomfortable with a younger guy telling him that he needs to run out at night and get some porn for viewing in the blue room.

Uhh....it's one of the qualifications for being VP?
C'mon...mincing words and taking shit out of context lowers the level of debate in this country. The media is horrible about it, politicians are horrible about it, but we shouldn't be horrible about it.
I'm really sick of it, we should be outraged that the media and politicians never have an in depth substanative examination and debate on the real issues facing America today. We worry about graphics, one liners, rumors and innuendo, and 30 second adds. I hope for everyones sake that neither candidates foreign policy, energy policy, or any other policy for that matter can be summed up in 30 seconds.
And BTW, I think Biden is awesome. He's witty, sarcastic, and an a-hole. He has great foreign and domestic policy experiance. Though I think Bill Richardson would have been a better choice. Here's more along my line of Democrat. Pretty conservative when it comes to gun control and domestic social policy.

Maybe, be he has one overriding flaw. He's a democrat. No matter how you paint it, that is always a bad thing. With a conservative you have a fighting chance.

Biden dropped out of the 2008 race for the Democratic presidential nomination after a poor finish in the Iowa caucuses, but not before he talked dismissively of joining someone else's ticket.
"I am not running for vice president," he said in a Fox interview. "I would not accept it if anyone offered it to me. The fact of the matter is I'd rather stay as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee than be vice president."

1) No argument here. But, should that really be brought up in an announcement? It almost makes it sound as though you expect to get whacked or taken out of office somehow...
2) Everyone else does it, so why shouldn't I? (Bad argument, I know - but I heard it enough from my boys when they were growing up.) Reading it "in context" didn't make it sound a whole lot better tho - the same reflex thoughts occurred to me, and some more in-depth thinking brought much the same thing to mind.
I'd like to see some honest debate in politics - no writers, no audience in studio - just the candidates, I'll let them have two 3"x5" index cards for their notes, and a moderator allowed to use a limited amount of violence to enforce the rules (set at the beginning with maximum clarity.) The idea here? Make them think on their feet - which should be a prerequisite for any sort of job!
After they get done debating each other, we can let various voters "phone in cold" - the questions they want to ask are the questions the candidates get, and they have to answer them in some wise (no waffling, no evading the issues - or they get whacked by the moderator.)
That, friends, would make for some good debate!

Replace limited with gratuitous and it's a solid idea. However, I think it's a format any professional politician will avoid like the plague.

I'm saving "gratuitous" for the expansion. I want to go after them the same way they're coming after us - ever hear about boiling the frog? Or "The Wild and Free Pigs of Okeefenokee Swamp?"
Start with "highly limited" violence for the first debate, then gradually lessen the restrictions. Eventually (say, two elections or so, I'd think,) there will be no restrictions entirely - and the moderator will have a sidearm for when things go entirely too far. Sound good?
I'm sure we'd have people far more serious about the job if they realise that they can get killed during the debates (of course, the moderator practises extensively.) Just to keep things "on the level," the candidates are chained to their podia with about a four-foot lead, so they have some freedom of motion (the podia are four feet apart - the candidates can swing at each other, if they can get close enough - and the moderator is at a point that is eight feet or so away from both podia. I think that's fair.)
Or, we forego the debate entirely for "might makes right" - the candidate who can walk away from a strap fight is the one who wins the debate. Submission or unconsciousness only, please.

If he slips him the tongue he can go for "protected" status.
I give it 3.4 weeks until that happens.
You know what he's really saying..." Your MY uncle tom now BITCH !"
Maybe it's me but it looks like Biden is going for his "junk" with the right hand there....

From the little bit I've looked into Richardson (I don't do research if I don't need to!) I think I agree with you.
From the little I've read on Biden I don't much care for him, seems to be your typical knee-jerk politician. All over gun control, loves the Patriot act, etc.
Fawk that.

Senator Biden was accused of perjurying a speech awhile ago.
The nuts have already begun showing up threatening Senator Obama.

IIRC 9/11 was an assasination attempt. The White house was one of the targets. It is a 20 year cycle, but not all attempts in history were succesful. Reagan survived as did some others through history.

Gerald Ford actually had two attempts broken up, the convicted are Squeaky Fromme and Sarah Jane Moore.
