I am in the final stages of swapping out the blown 4.0 in my 97 Cherokee, and I have stumbled upon a problem. The complete engine I purchased was out of a 98 Cherokee, so it should be a bolt in to my 97......or so I thought.
I am to the point of hooking up all the connectors and I notice that I cannot get the 3 sensors on the passenger side to hook up (coil, Dizzy, and thing in side of block). I look at the connectors on my replacement engine and they are different than the ones on my harness!!!!
I ran the Distributor number from the new engine (56041034) and it shows a 98/99 model. I ran the one on my old one (56027028) and it shows 96/97 model. Can I just swap my old distributor in or do I need to splice my connectors onto the new engine?
Thx,
