just as stated! I can pour back a dozen cans or bottles of buds in a nite and wake up feeling fine in the morning. I drink 4-5 pints at a specific establishment and I want to die the next day. This happens everytime I go there. I quit going to that for that reason, I thought I'd try it again and yup, feel like I'm dying. Just curious

Bud is mostly water, you don't get so dehydrated.
What are you drinking off of tap?
Go for quality not quantity.
Of course I just don't like Bud.

Maybe it ain't the beer, maybe its something else like cigarette smoke? Or the ugly server. :gee:

I had a buddy that worked for an beer distributor and I asked him this same question.
He said that some Bars have the beer kegs a long ways from the taps and the lines are not refrigerated, so they can build up bacteria overnight. He suggested to only drink tap beer from places that refrigerate the lines and from frequently used taps. Made sense to me.
FWIW - he is not a scientist, biologist, or expert of any fashion. Just a beer salesman.

I have also heard that it can be caused by the CO2 settings that they are running. Just hear say, I am not a scientist, but I like to play one in my tool shed in the back yard with women over 21 :D

:roflmao: It depends entirely on what your drinking.....if the label makes any references to Clydesdales or Rocky Mountains it might as well say Evian or Crystal Geyser..............
As far as the hang over, maybe go to a bar that washes their glasses..:puke:

Right on.
It is the bacteria in the lines that gives you a super hangover the next morning. I typed in "bacteria in beer lines" for a google search and it came back with a bunch of results like the following:

I worked as a bouncer.bartender.manager, the guy owned 5 bars in NJ, one was in somers point NJ near atlantic city, The Dunes, he had one of the only 2 caberet licenses in the state, we could stay open 23 1/2 hours. The bar was only open during the summer [it was a beach type bar with 13 bars], we opened at 10pm and closed at 7am. Every spring we would have to go down and shoot rats and replace lines from the cooler to the bar taps.
None of us that worked there EVER drank ANYTHING that was on tap from the sodas to the Heineken, Michelob, etc.
We cleaned the place up with hoses....

I bet the cig smoke has something to do with it. When I used to smoke them they'd make a six beer hangover almost unlivable. I mean, really brutal. Same thing when I'm out at the bars - Haven't smoked in almost a year now and the crap in the air makes a hangover pretty terrible.

not sure if the laws have hit out west, but Ontario passed "No Smoking" laws for all bars.
The best law I think I have ever been affected by. Not that I go out, or drink often, but that once now and then to shoot pool I love it.
The bacteria can certainly affect you poorly. We had a big Pig Roast party a few months ago, and had to make sure the 5 kegs were cleaned out soon after. Turns out any beer turns bad rather quickly, and any air pockets in the lines speeds the process.
Depending how long the kegs have been there, could be the beer has gone bad. Try a more popular beer and see if its that bad the next day too.
Bud, ugh, I'd give that to my kids if I didn't ever want them to drink again.

Ok I work for a company that sells draft parts/systems etc. Couple of things, beer in kegs may or may not be pasturized, some are some arent. All beer lines are refrigated, how well is an issue, but if they werent it would pour only foam at the tap. NOW what CAN acutally make you feel like crap after draft beer is elements totally in control of the bar, how clean things are. Beer glassware has it's own set of sanatizers/cleaners (you know the dunk sinks they use?) and some bars cheap out and use dish soap, a big no no. The other thing is the beer lines should be cleaned every 2 weeks, again cheap owners skimp and beer is a wonderful food for bacteria, even a perfectly maintained system will grow things and i have heard some scary stories. Oh that brings to mind one other thing, some old bars still use (it's a BIG no no in the industry now) air compressors to help aid the CO2 tanks pressurize the system. Now alot of these are in the basement, in some dank corner somewhere. now you think about the air in some basements you know, do you want that getting sucked in and put in your keg? and the poured into your beer?
I wouldnt blame draft beer so much as look at the place your getting said draft beer. It's a food item, but saidly alot of bars still dont treat it as such in it's keeping and despense.

El Paso has those laws too. The only exemption is if the establishment main product is smoking items, like a cigar store.

sadly even cigars stores are out of luck too up here. which sucked seeing our favourite cigar shoppe close, even tho it was a bar, its major income was from people coming into smoke cigars while enjoying a good import draught.

I've always wondered why 3 draft beers gave me a 10-12 beer hangover.

Tried my experiment last night, 9 bottled buds, I'm a little tired ,but feel great otherwise. I'm done with draft.
oh and no smoking in any bar or establishment or anywhere within 21ft of a public doorway to a building, or in a public building

I sill say see my above post, i bet good odds your bar of choice has a piss poor draft system. The beer that goes in a keg and that goes in a bottle comes out of the same vat at a brewery. Its how its treated after, the bar's responsablity, that's having all the changes on it. Ever have a metalic tasting draft beer? That's flat beer that has been over carbonated in hopes of "reviving" it.
Our mantra we tell bars etc is if they dont have a well kept draft system they will do one of two things, send business away, or make people switch to bottle (your case) which is less profitable for them and usually more expensive to the drinker, you.
Alot of places think it's like household plumbing where you never need to do any up keep so long as it's working, and not leaking. But that's simply not the case, it;s something that needs to be cleaned and maintained religously.

SPOBI, if the beer you buy in a can gets pasteurized, (like most American lagers do) then the keg of the same beer is also pasteurized.

That would be almost every bar in Lafayette, Louisiana.

It's sad really it doesnt take much to keep them up, cleaning the lines every 2 weeks. and there are profesional line cleaners out there who will put a bar on a schedule if contracted to do so.

actually that isnt true, bottles and cans get pasteurized after they are filled, most domestic kegs dont get that as they are expected to be delivered and consumed within a short time. A domestic keg has a refrigated shelf life of 60-90 days max. Import is pasturized and gets you to about the 120 day point, and refrigation isnt as crutical for storage.

Somthing interesting i have noticed, if you put your mouth directly on the tap and skip the whole glass thing, you dont get as hung over. Plus it is much more fun :D

I went to a Colts game years ago and was warned not to get drunk on the draft stuff...whoops! Well, drank too much of the draft and felt like hell the next day.
I don't smoke, but being around smoke makes it worse. No smoke that day at the Hoosier Dome.

Used to get all my alcohol from a JD bottle or something with a worm floating in it.
(I cut my Jack with Tequila, it keeps the more annoying hallucinations at bay:D)
Never got into the beer thing, maybe that's why I never got hangovers.
