Found a great driveline shop nearby, picked up a pair of the above for the d30non-disco ('98).

Thinking about replacing the existing grease w/Mobil 1 synthetic, not much trouble at all, worth the trouble? Any downside?

Thanks,

Mike

nope, yup, the possibility of losing needle bearings. Also, it can be messy. I ruined a T-shirt that I liked doing this. Was very careful not to touch it with my hands, but accidentally dragged an elbow through the grease :(

Need to pull the caps and squirt lube into the body till the good stuff is coming out all four arms. That would probably be sufficient, but I'm anal, so I also empty the caps onto paper towels, spray the bearings down with brake-kleen, and clean all the old goop off them. Of course, I also spend a lot of time looking for dropped bearings this way, too.

You have no idea just how anal I am, the procedure you just described is nirvana to me.

I drop my brake fluid every six months, I kid you not...

Thanks,

Mike

I trust Spicer knows what grease to use.

the spicer joints i bought came with a little tag that said the joints were already prelubed to a very specific amount of lube and NOT to relube them.

like john, i too trust spicer to know how to lube them properly

No such tag info, I just keep thinking that everything up front is always spinning w/o discos, albeit most of the time in two wheel drive.
