Vacuum canaster behind the front bumper

What is the vacuum canaster behind the front bumper on the passenger side for? Mine is not hooked up and everything on my jeep works including the AC. Is it emissions or for another year than my jeep? I have a '92 but suspect the bumper has been changed.

Sorry about that. But I tried and was not sucessful. I needed a spell check from what I can tell. Used the correct spelling and found a lot of info. Now my question is where should my vacuum canister be connected. I have no lines going to mine. I will continue reading through the 100's of threads on this, but any sugestions would be appreciated.

It is a vacuum reservoir. It helps to operate the heater/ a/c functions when vacuum is low.
