Having successfully rebuilt both the front and rear ends of my xj (and as we all know, success is a relative term with unlimited definitions and standards), I'd like to make an observation. Short cuts are fine though are usually learned through exploration and experience. When I read of someone saying that doing the searching personally "really sux", is missing the point, let alone the spelling. Doing the search and reading every post that is relative is all part of the learning process. Reading it all gives you not only a better overall picture of your repair issues, it also gives you various options or directions from which you can manage it. You pick up tricks or tips or additional info that solidifys your understanding. You read good reports of horror stories you plan on avoiding or perhaps you find a post so right on the money that you print it out and stick it in your personal jeep notebook for future reference. You find your way by absorbing what NAXJA really is...a fountain of knowledge and experience. Take the time to drink slowly, for your benefit will be greater.

What I have noticed is that most of the guys that do the complaining about the search feature are not even paying members. If you not paying, then use the free search feature for what it is, or find your information somewhere else if that does not suit you.

As "Hudson Bend" noted, if you use the search feature, you might not find your answer in a speedy fashion, but you will eventually find what your looking for and you will also see what others have had, or not had, success with.

I am not against more stickys on some of the very commonly asked questions, but the search feature is still a very viable option.

For the love of God is right. For crying out loud why do people not only use proper grammer, but they have to make up new words. As if raping the English language isn't enough then they have to make up new ways to spell the freaking words.

I had problems searching at first, it was hard to find things. You just have to try using different words sometimes. All the topics above have been covered quite a bit in many different posts. This site is an ecyclopedia of xj info, you may as well join now.

The Modified Tech Forum, where this little gem originally came from, would look really stupid with 300 stickys of your favorite modifications with 3 part instructions and 4 part harmony.

There are so many websites run by members, and other XJ enthusiasts, that most of the questions asked on both the OEM and Modified Tech forums are probably un-neccesary. It is also not unusual to find somebody opened a thread on a subject, and 2 days later, someone else starts yet another thread on the same subject.

It would be interesting to know the ratio of Non-Members asking questions, V.S. Members. Also of interest is whether the Technical and OT Forums are doing their job in attracting possible members.

First, you use God's name in vain in your title.

Then you proceed to suggest an idea which has been bounced around before, and rejected (not bad by itself), then P&M because it's rejected. You can't possibly be so self centered as to believe you are the only one who thought of this, can you?

There has been some effort by NAXJA Members to make a catalog of Tech write ups, but it is done by volunteers, and it is my understanding that it will be only will be available to members.

NAXJA is not the only website out there with write ups, there are many, many sites out there with very nice write ups on just about anything you can imagine.

That brings me to another thing. By Joining NAXJA, you are joining a CLUB, not a website. The Membership supports this site. I really would like to see figures, though they would be likely hard to obtain, on Member vs Non-Member use because it would help NAXJA tailor it's content to fit in the bandwidth it pays for.

You either have a difficulty spelling, or you type badly. It's a tough crowd here, and we are not the ignorant fools you will find on other websites. I suggest you step up.

I recommend a cold beverage at this juncture. To quote a famous Canadian Composer/Singer "Might as well go have a soda"

this website is not "meant to be" a free for all for you to come in here and complain about, you are mistaken there. its the public forum for a 4x4 club. if we had a million stickies up top people would still post without reading them. did you read the guide to searching? have you even read the stickies that ARE there? the search feature is easy to use once you know how to get what you want out of it, and if you weren't so lazy you might find that out. dont walk in here and bash us for not bending to your will, your voice carries little to no weight here, and you are nothing but a freeloader. dont walk in here like you are entitled to something. yes, there is alot of information available for free here, but thats not the main purpouse of this website.

last thing why the hell would I pay money to a u.s. 4x4 site that caters to the "north american" 4x4 scene when sorry I guess canada is not part of nort america every thing that the member ship is used for gose tawords us 4x4ing NOT north amarican 4x4ing when you have something that really covers "north america" then I will pay money! as it stands right now I will continue to use this site for what it is ment to be information and help.
