Went over the Divide and checked out what was happenin' in the catch and release section of the Taylor River this weekend. Fished it all day Sunday. The biggest was this old brown that taped at 25ish. She had someone elses fly in the corner of her mouth in addition to mine. Also landed several nice bows in the 20" range and had 6 others break off. When my g/f stays in the Jeep with the camera, I know it's gonna be a good day. These were snapped by a guy I met who was fishing the other side of the river. She came out of the Jeep at noon and things shut down. Never fails. Brown was caught on a 24 shuckin' midge pattern and 6x tippet and I was a nervous wreck the whole time. :D Here's the pics:

I would LOVE to spend my days on the water. When I moved out here, my intent was to teach for another couple of years while I learned all the holes the South Platte has to offer (someone will quote that part) and then branch off into guiding. The accounting department (her) doesn't think I'll be able to bring home enough bacon. I'm sure I'd have to work in a shop part time to help out. I am never happier than when on water. I worry that would change if I pimped it out. You can look at it 2 ways I guess: It would be a dream come true for me to educate new anglers on the ethics involved in fishing while, hopefully, putting them on some nice fish. But....I would hate to take something I love and taint it by contributing to the number of people applying pressure to the fish. I think about it every day but can't figure out what direction to go.

Hey part time!! :speepin:
Any interest in pounding Cheesman all day on either Saturday or Sunday? The road closure should be keeping a lot of the scrubs out. I got ways of gettin' up that way though (and still only driving 25 miles).
Also still planning an overnighter up at Pomeroy or maybe back at Taylor before the end of September.
I can't even focus at work I tell ya. :wierd: Love will be in the air very soon for all the browns.
Is it wrong that I wanted to hump that first fish?

The first decent sized bass I ever caught back in high school, I was bragging to a friend about it. He asked if I mounted it, and I responded with a wry smile, "Repeatedly."

Catch and re-who.......why? What possible good could come of putting "pressure" on a fish that you don't intend to eat?
I dunno, my hunting "shoot and release" program hasn't had a positive effect on the animal populations or my freezer stock.:exclamati
Just razzin you a bit, but I honestly don't see a point to catch and release. If you just want to look at the fish, go to the aquarium.
Call me sometime when you wanna come down here and catch a hundred or so specs that size.....and the sweet release will be the fish fry later that night.

Dang, I am about ready to pack and come visit, been scoping out the creeks and streams around here, if it would only stop raining enough for the water to clear up. Been trying to spot some but muddy water is hard to see through. May give up and just try some blind fishing

That's exactly what I was saying Chris.. it becomes a whole hell of a lot less fun then.
I've gone back to check out those pics like 3 or 4 times lastnight... those things are monsters!
Any idea when you're heading to Pom for your overnighter? Are you bringing Heather or going it Lone Wolf. I know Laurel DEFINITELY wouldn't be into going (not enough meat on her bones.. she'd freeze her ass off) but if you're heading up there by yourself....

Like I said, few people have the issues that I do when it comes to trout. Probably why only a few people fish with me for any length of time. I have a major problem. My OCD doesn't let me just dabble in anything. There's no time to eat, drink, or even pi$$ when I'm on the water and I think about it 24 friggin' 7. Formatt might wind up figuring out how truly insane I am. I know Lawn Cher did. :wierd: I'm just glad that Heather encourages my behavior. :D

Its nothing I haven't seen before. My fishing buddy back east with the website I showed you, he has the same problem, although maybe not quite as bad.
