I may regret this, but I want to hear your bitches, gripes, and complaints about the chapter and the BOD.
Feel free to PM me with any specifics.
Please do not post any names or particulars that may offend or identify anyone.
If you have any questiosn or issues for the BOD or how or why we let threads get out of hand, please know that we all have full time jobs. I used to be able to be on the Internet all day, but my new job does not allow it. i check it when I can. I let some things slide, when they can't resolve on their own.
Fire away!
PS, this thread will moderated, so watch the language, tones, and all that jazz that can get deleted.

There is a trend of people talking for lack of a better word POOP about other members.
I've fallen victim to it.
The people of the chapter are ticked off and tired of it.
A lot of the problem is the lack of names being used in public. I don't have a problem with people airing out my dirty laundry. I encourage it. I will address it accordingly. I think it solves issues, keeping everything hush hush breeds an environment polluted with slander.
Captain Ron's comments were interpreted as blatant disrespect and almost threatening. They were uncalled for... If i didn't know better i'd be enraged.
But this is how Ron operates, it's a known fact that he gets to the bottom of the Chopin bottle and hops on NAXJA. His comments should be taken lightly, notice the smiley face.....it nullifies strong words
Screw you Ron, were going fishing on a boat where the Vietnamese operator will serve us dog tacos for $5 a pop and we will all be under the influence of lukewarm PBR. oh ya and your gay and i hope you die :D
See how that works? :D

I don't have a problem (nor have I had any, knock on wood) with anyone here...yet. But all the crap-talking (not joking, but actual crap talking) and wanking is getting a little old... I guess the only solution to that would be to ignore those that offend us, we don't HAVE to hang out or wheel with everyone just because they are a member of NAXJA. I love everyone BTW... :)

Here is a complaint. Of course, I just found out this thread isn't really for complaints....more about Captain Ron talking crap and threads getting locked. haha
When I joined NAXJA my friend said "nothing but a bunch of rock crawlers, waste of time because, they think go fast stuff is stupid".
That said, I have to agree. We have big events expecting everyone to come out and run (rock garden, calico, BB, etc) and support NAXJA or offroading but when a group of people go to Cleghorn or Azusa or to a Jeepspeed event its not as supported. And there is even a group on here that I feel are "Big Bear elitists" and look down on others from the group for Azusa and other types of "non rock crawling". Its annoying but whatever. Those who complain about the mud must think you are required to run a mud pit to ge there. We often go to just hang out and get to know eachother more,

No complaints here.
As far as I am concerned, people can be people all they want.
Every body I have met through NAXJA have been all good people, and like family.
The good and the bad of family!
Ron is okay, Ben is okay, Grimm and the rest are okay.
Heck, I even get to the point of missing some of my friends I have met through NAXJA.
Kyung, Matty? Johnny, Charles, Ryan.....etc.
:D
And yes, I am an elitist rock crawling pig!
BB isn't all that much of a fuss, never been to Calico or Azusa, but I have been to a few Jeepspeed events....and I don't like mud.

Maybe it's "not as supported" because the majority of members (and probably ALL of the BOD, but I have no clue about the BOD) are rock crawlers. Back when I joined there wasn't ANY speed stuff here. It's kind of cool that there is now. Not that I'm into it or anything. And even cooler that you guys come out and crawl with us.
What's really funny though that you refer to "big bear" as crawling. :D That's a forest, it's trail riding. There might be some rocks there, but not much. Maybe you meant "JV elitists" ?

Good!
There are folks who do not take to mud, some don't take to the deserts, or rocks, or whatever. I do believe that there can be more support for it.
One thing to know - any member can post up about a run or get together. There are a few events each years that does get more attention. All it takes is someone to get it started.
If folks start razzin you about Asuza, JeepSpeed, rocks, or whatever, ignore them. Post the details and get people involved. If you think there should be more chapter invovlement, shoot a PM to the BOD.

I would like to see more of our BOD people at the functions, Like you Robert, because you are the pres!! and like to shoot the shit with you as well as everyone else.

About the chapter. I guess I don't like it that the folks south of san clemente get ignored. When there's something going on (that isn't wheeling), it's always based at least an hour or two north of me. There's a ton of members in San Diego and N. County SD, East County SD, etc. Maybe not the majority, but at least considering the SO-Cal People a bit more.

I may regret this, but I want to hear your bitches, gripes, and complaints about the chapter and the BOD.
I can't say I have any of the above, especially that I haven't personally met many of the SoCal members and haven't really gone out on any runs. But as someone who has mostly lurked on NAXJA for close to 5 years, I feel that the SoCal Chapter has changed, only based on what I read on these forums. It is only my observation that compared to a few years ago there is more animosity amongst the members and the Chapter seems to have been divided into strong sub-groups. There is more trash talking and BS in the Forums and lots of wasted bandwidth. The quality of content in the SoCal threads is far inferior compared to past. The BOD of yester-years had more active presence, but the active organizing of events by non-BOD members has gone up a lot.
Just my 2 .... Maz

I know. I have had issues gettign to functions this year. I will not go to any details as they are personal. I have been making more of an effort lately. Weeknights are much more difficult now since my new job and picking my son up from daycare.
I WAS at the RockGarden in the TJ. My XJ has been in the garage for 2+ months. lack of funds and time, but lots of help and support! I will get some wheeling time very soon!!!! I will not be making Moab after all. Funds will not allow.
My goal at the begining of the year was to wheel once a month. I am about 5 months behind! I got some catching up to do! Asuza, Big Bear, Calico, JV.... all in the next 4 months! At least once or twice for a couple of them!!!

I have a problem with a BOD member....that f'in treasurer of yours sucks. :D
the non-jokingly talking behind ones back is never cool. If anyone has a problem with someone, man up and deal with the person directly...if you cant get it resolved...then thats a different story.
also, its not specific to NAXJA or any particular group but in general...get the details and facts before you spew poo all over the place. dont make assumptions...think for yourselves.
I dont think less of anyone who only likes JeepSpeed, Azuza, or Cleghorn...I like JeepSpeed and would love to be more involved with it but I pick my battles and priorities since I like rockcrawling more and dont have enough time or money to do everything.
I agree with Robert that if you think something should happen, take the initiative and make it happen. If you want the BODs support, let us know. If you think something could be handled in a better fashion, propose a solution. Dont just bitch about it.

Elias, the old days there was basically NO moderation. Geoff was president and was around stirring up most of the sh!t around here and it was GOOD TIMES! You should recall, you were around. The whole thing went to sh!t when Remi got mod powers. It was a lot better back then. Active president makes a world of difference. We basically have had no (or limited) leadership for the past three years and Remi can't rally the troops since anyone who has been around here won't put up with his crap (we love you Remi though :smootch: ). Remi's basically been 1/2 (or more like 1/4) of a management team for the past three years. We need a change!

Great posts guys.
About mederators - There have been times when there has been posts removed, moved, edited, locked, or whatever, and the person then starts another thread bitching about why the thread got the action.
We made changes to try to accomodate - group buys in the for sale section.
There have been more but I will nto hit on everyone.
Things were different 3+ years ago - the group as a whole were different as was the BOD. There were more work parties and wheeling trips. There are tons of look what I got threads, drama, bling this, drama, what was your first car, what's your favorite color, etc.... threads.
We need to get back to grass roots! XJ wheeling, wrenching, and Karma, helping and being a good group of guys, not bitching and whining.
There are to many subsequent posts on the same topic. Rockgarden for example - 4 threads that I remember.
We have the BEST Jeep folks in the country and we have the best network around. Why have we let this happen? Yes, the BOD can be help responsible for some of the crap, but it's YOU, the members/guest, that make this thing what it is.
I will make a motion in the BOD forum to better police the chapter and keep the threads on topic. We will enforce the "rules" to everyone. This includes signature lines, avatars, post content, etc...
We are mostly grown men (and a few women) and we love our sport.

You can't enforce rules that do not exist. IF you are going to do this, you must create a set of rules and have the rules posted (another sticky  ).
Can MikeG not post up his dinner? From a national view, the Chapter forums is to do what ever the chapter wants as long as tech stays in the tech forums. What direction do you [Robert] want to take SoCal chapter? Where are these rules going to take us?

Where do I start? At the beginning right!!
I haven't been here that long. But in the short time here have met a lot of awesome people. People that go out of their way to help each other. A friend in need is a friend in w.....oh that's right it's indeed. Like Rick said it's like a family. And with a family comes the good and the bad. If a family member has a behavioral flaw (being nice here) that really gets out of hand, you sit them down and talk about it. You don't do it at a public place. You do it behind closed doors and air it out. And when the family member continues f-ing up you are faced with tough decisions. So I guess I have 2 complaints about NAXJA. The first is that some discussions that should be taking place behind closed doors are taking place in openly viewed threads (and I am guilty of this too...I was the first to take offense to the comments made in the "let's go fishing" thread. Whenever you get a group of people of this size together you are going to have cliques formed. It just happens. So be it. If only 4 rigs want to go to a Jeepspeed race then those 4 are gonna have a blast. Would it be cool to have 20 XJs attend en masse? Hell yeah but it is what it is. That's a great thing about Jeeps. You can go camping with the family. You can go rock crawling at JV. You can go watch Jeepspeed races and drive right on the track. You can go play in the snow. You can go to Mexico and drive right on the beach. (ya gotta love Southern California!!!!). And yes we are all spread out but have local get togethers. Heck we even have a sub chapter in a small beach town from what I hear.
And on to my complaint #2.
When I joined I had a stock XJ. Thanks to you guys I have now spent 8 times what I paid for it on parts...maybe more....and the parts I have staged in the garage waiting to go on it almost total the purchase value. But you know what...I love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
Naxja is what the people make it to be. And I for one truly appreciate it for what it is!!! Is it perfect? No! But nobody is!
That's my 2 cents....

I think there should be a "NAXJA for dummies" tutorial thread for the computards. A lot of people don't spend 24/7/365 on a computer and have no idea how to post/host pics, vids, net etiquette. Just a thought.:D

Not to sound like an jerk when I say this rpraterxj; I'm not saying it to be an jerk.
3+ years ago we had a BOD that was not reactionary. They regularly took part of the forum and club events, and issues were dealt with in a mild mannered backchannel way before they ever made it to black and white.
Our prior board, while under a very compentant president, suffered from his lack of availability and attention. The vice president was inexperianced and mildly underqualified IMO, and was not able to learn from someone who was not there.
And again, no offense, but lather, rinse, and repeat.
I, as a chapter member, am OFFENDED that you want to step in now with massive changes attempting a "quick fix" while not participating, in full confidence that three weeks from now things will be the same. New rules aren't going to fix anything, participating in the chapter will.

Thanks for being so open and sharing that. I can appreciate that but please be assured that this is not a "quick fix". NAXJA by-laws and rules have been in place but not fully enforced.
What I intend to do is get this back on track. The members were different as were the BOD members. There were less people and more activity - wheeling, wrenching, etc...
There will be mroe participation from the BOD. I believe that Remi and Josh have been more involved than I have and I have stated i had some personal issue I will not bring up. Things have gooten better and I am getting back into the groove. if anyone has a problem with me, let me know back channel. I know served you all well and I almost stepped down but was encouraged not to. Now that things are better and I am ready.
Now you told me not to take offense to your comment yet you tell me you are offended by the BOD doing their job. Mayeb we haev not done a great job, but that does not mean we can not. I firmly believe what I stated previously about having the best group of people. I also believe this can be turn around very quickly. If folks don't want to be a part of it they do not have to be. That is the case with NAXJA and every thread in it. you have the option to read, post, comment, or ignore.
Not to sound like an ass when I say this rpraterxj; I'm not saying it to be an ass.

Okay, so we have a problem here Rich.
You used quotation marks when you should have used '........
It wasn't a statement you were actually making, you were quoting another.
And we need some more punctuation.
This is where we may need to call in an expert, but if you are using the quote in a form of a question, you should install a question mark. But....since the quote isn't a question, why would you modify the quote (therefore making it a non-quote) by making us add a question mark?
What I am saying is that your entire reply to the thread is inaccurate.
To be correct, you would need to make a statement about the quote, not modify it into another form.

Yeah, my nuts still hurt. LOL...
I know, and have stated I have done served well, or at all, over the past few months. I was very active at the begining of the year, but then things happened. Personal things. No details but marriage, work, finances, and other things that I have responsibilty for. unfortunately, I had to put NAXJA aside. I don't live at home with my parents and I am not single (these are not bad things, just different freedoms) I had conversations with folks to help me out and I even offered up stepping down. I was encouraged not too and I am glad I did not. I love NAXJA and have made some great friends.
If folks do not support me then impeach me. If someone thinks they can do better, then step up. Some folks have kept their mouths shut and now they want to speak up to. That's cool. I have no beef with anyone and hold no grudges.
I want to thanks the folks that PM'd me with their personal issues. I

Agreed 100%. Very few other complaints, but this is a big one. I am sick of the entire first page being threads about BS topic, non tech topics, tech topics, etc. Stuff that in no way relates directly to SOCAL.

I flat out refuse to go to Azusa anymore because of the BS tickets some of us got in the parking lot last time I was there. As for cleg...one of my favorites and VERY local for me. Better words...let's see, crap, trash, garbage, non-sense, BS...5 without trying...
Which brings me to a complaint of mine: the increase in cussing and foul language on the open forums due to people's laziness/unwillingness to use a couple extra brain cells to come up with something else.

People talk about upholding the rules, putting forth a good face to new users, etc, well let's uphold the rules on language...
This right along the lines of what I am talking about. We all need to make an effort and teh BOD will make more effort to ensure threads are cleaner. If someone finds a thread with offensive language, report it.
Thank you!

Agreed 100%. Very few other complaints, but this is a big one. I am sick of the entire first page being threads about BS topic, non tech topics, tech topics, etc. Stuff that in no way relates directly to SOCAL.
I am tired of hearing "someone PM'd me and complained" from Robert evrrytime someone has a problem with a post. WTF...go crying to the president? POST UP AND SAY SOMETHING.
The way I understand it. If it's jeep related (like tech) it has it's own forum. Stuff that we as SOCAL want to discuss shouldn't be a problem. Most the "BS" posts you refer to probably have more views than threads you would want to see.
I am also tired of the "every one here hates go fast" crap. Events are organized by someone starting it up.....Be that SOMEONE. I have been to Azusa, cleghorn, and damn near anywhere else someone posts up for. I flat out refuse to go to Azusa anymore because of the BS tickets some of us got in the parking lot last time I was there. As for cleg...one of my favorites and VERY local for me. I make it as long as I don't have other plans. And I guess maybe I am one step shy of being an elitist crawler with lockers, winch, and 35's....But I still do make it to the smaller events on occassion.
Flame on you bunch of whiney bitches.
READ some of the threads lately. There are threads about going out to the races and watching. I don't NEED to be that SOMEONE. I just think people bashing guys who want to go run their rigs more (even though its not HARD CORE) is weak.

Well, I hate to sound like a total tool, but I'm with Darky on the language bit. It's one thing to call someone an asshat (which is pretty dang comical, if you ask me), and quite another to use F-Bombs and street slang for body parts.
I always try to make my posts family-friendly, at least to some degree. A rebel is a rebel, but a pottymouth is just that. Pick up a thesaurus, y'all!

If SoCal BOD isnt respected, then we haven't earned it. goes for everyone else too. earn your respect instead of whizzing on an electric fence and complaining that its the fence's fault that it hurts.
Cal and Grimm stop trying to read into certain comments and spin them to seem derogatory. all that misunderstanding can start more e-drama. I get enough of that from my wife. :P
Does everyone need a beer and a hug or what? Enough of the e-drama and whining. If I've done something wrong, I expect you guys to tell me backchannel or call me. I'll buy you a damn beer and shoot the caca.

Not sure what you mean about not containing. I have not asked anyone to hush up. I have edited the threads to remove the cursing - BY REQUEST!
I am interested in talk with anyone, just hit me up back channel.
As for the statement, I am not sure how many folks read into or took it the way you did. I meant absolutely nothing in particular towards anyone. You are not single nor live at home so I am not sure why you took it however you did.
I am not stirring any pots or pointing any fingers. I try my best not to do that.
From reading through the responses, part of the problem (I think) is that folks don't believe or don't want it to change. Again, no one in particular, but anyone can read through and see what I mean.
As a group, we need to not be so negative or narrow minded. We all need to be a littel thicker skinned. There have been some things that went too far or should have never been said. Airing things out in public threads is not the way to do it.
My intentions for this thread was not to air dirty laundry or drag up old personal issues. It was to bring to light some of the things we as a chapter can work on to make it a better place.

Robert,
I commend you for stepping up to the plate. Yes, you had to take a step back because of personal reasons. Family does comes first. I remember you posting up that you had important life situations to deal address. You invited members to contact you if they had NAXJA issues. You even posted up your phone number to make it easier for people to contact you.
So, this is where the rubber meets the road. I think you'll do a great job now that you back and ready to lead the SoCal Chapter.
Like you said earlier, if someone thinks they can do a better job, then step up.

What the [edited for rpraterxj] does that mean? I'm not trying to spin anything derogatory or be negative. I have gone out of my way to express my opinions without being negative or pointing any manner of specific blame, and within the ability of the context, be polite about it.
Does everyone need a beer and a hug or what? Enough of the e-drama and whining. If I've done something wrong, I expect you guys to tell me backchannel or call me. I'll buy you a damn beer and shoot the caca.

I am tired of hearing "someone PM'd me and complained" from Robert evrrytime someone has a problem with a post. WTF...go crying to the president? POST UP AND SAY SOMETHING.
For the record....I have NEVER reported a post for anything but porn spamming. I do find it annoying to have all the extra stuff in socal....But thats what Robert asked for, so I posted it here for all to see in an open forum. As of your post, I had already gone through and posted in several threads last night that I thought were misplaced. I did so all in plain sight, just as you suggest now.
The way I understand it. If it's jeep related (like tech) it has it's own forum. Stuff that we as SOCAL want to discuss shouldn't be a problem. Most the "BS" posts you refer to probably have more views than threads you would want to see.Yep, that sounds about right. But how would you know what I want to see??? And they might have even more views if they were posted in tech or non tech accordingly.
READ some of the threads lately. There are threads about going out to the races and watching. I don't NEED to be that SOMEONE. I just think people bashing guys who want to go run their rigs more (even though its not HARD CORE) is weak.
Right. There are threads about the stuff you want to do. I happen to despise "watching" a race. I don't watch races or any form of sport on TV or otherwise. I feel they are for the most part boring and usually worse in person. So should I attend an event that I have no desire to be at?? You'll kindly notice that I have never posted anything negative about any of these events (with the exception of letting folks know about Azusas shortfalls). You might even notice that I just generally ignore threads that don't interest me. If more folks here did that, there wouldn't be all this bickering now.
Andy, please don't take this or my previous post personally, I was not directing it at you or anybody else. Just call them how I see them.

I feel the same about some sports, and if I am not working a pit at a race it sometimes can be boring, but I think it's more about hanging out with your Friends and it gives you a good reason to get together. It's like Nascar, It sucks until 3-4 of you friends come over, crack open a few beers, and all of a sudden its fun. I would never watch Nascar alone, Boring!!

X3 for me also, He does absolutly no good for Naxja, I dont give a crap what he did before, I only see what he's doing now. I havent read one good or positive thread from him.
I recall Stumpalump who everyone said was a great guy, real nice to hang out with, helped out a lot behind the scenes, etc, but he couldn't contain himself on NAXJA and he's banned. Capt Ron seems no different. I can't recall the last time I saw him post something helpful, just crazy drunken, foul rants where he calls people out and bags on whatever's happening.

I seem to recall him telling Grimm that he was "stupid enough to die" because he suggested getting a boat from a non-Capt ROn- approved site...
Put it back in context.
I'm not saying Ron should not put it in check, but there is no comparing him to what Stump was doing, and Stump got about 20 warnings, several time-outs, and phone calls from nearly half the BOD during which he promised to cut it out - a promise that lasted nearly 30 minutes each time.

no complaints here(other than my poor health right now), I would just like to thank the BOD for a thankless job no doubt.
As for Ron, meh, he bugs me with his posting content(or lack thereof) but I can very easily ignore him and his posts. I guess if he doesn't mind the image he is portraying to new users, there is nothing that says he is not entitled to his "opinion", however harsh and liquor muddled it may be.
Once again, thanks to the bod and members for making naxja...naxja.
cheers
edit: I guess I have one small gripe about the advanced fab section not available to users(non paying members). I think naxja bit itself on the butt with that one as it will only detract from any possible tech, but I'm sure there was some sort of logical thought process behind it.

There is a ton of other crap here that is going on as well that WE are all tired of. You got a problem with someone work it out, like Bryce and I. We had it worked out but the rumors never did. If there is a rumor then call them on it, thanks Ben, it got it all in the open, but whoever started that rumor and not call me is a CS skumbag. Just call and ask, don't assume something in which you dont know.
C'mon all you tards that are e-drama melodramatic (you know who you are), get with the game here. If someone does not want to go on a run for what ever reason, it is their reason, there is no need to bag on anyone and it does not belong here.
Take a look at all the threads, a really good look. Most all of them are e-drama, shit or get off the pot already. I am over it so should you. Get back to what this forum is all about, wheeling, helping others, offering help, that is why I joined. Imagine what this looks like to newbies that hit this site for the first time and see all this drama.
Sure, put the group buys where they belong, put the adv fab question in that area, post up if you are gonna be to a M&G or want to hit your favorite wheeling spot, see who wants to join you. Just keep the drama out of it. You want drama, come listen to my 14 ry old daughtor for an hour, you will get your fill

There are lots of great things to be said about the people and the things we do. Do not forget we are all XJ enthusiast! We all like to wheel - some rocks, some mud, some desert racing, some mall, etc...
It was best said to drop the drama. Start PMing folks with your gripe or concern.
thanks for all of the comments, good and bad. BTW, I have had to edit this thread due to language or statements.
