Mike has a RE HD track bar. (http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Img_Products/Pn/2/1782/Photographs/0/324.jpg) We were looking at it and the design is flawed with higher lifts (in regards to the frame side rod end) since suspension travel is limited to only the range of the rod end. The track bar itself is fine though. Mr. Overkill had a quick solution.
We replaced the rod end with one that was 3/4" thread with a 3/4" hole and along with a pair of mis-alignment spacers and a 3/4" bolt, the track bar as plenty of range to match the flex of Mike's XJ. We basically have converted the HD to the EXTREME DUTY RE setup for minimal $$$.
Mike claims that he can notice a difference on the street (I am assuming less flex laterally than the RE Track Bar as it is sold was).

Solid as a rock, Yep the Cracker is correct. There was an emediate change in the steering feel. Felt considerably more solid. I gave it a good thrashing on the roads down here in TJ this morning and it performed masterfully. I do not forsee breaking either the rod end or the 3/4 bolt. If i do, well its probalbly time to call the insurance guy and start looking for another XJ.

Nice fix - I love when folks address issues they have with an "I can do this" attitude instead of picking up the phone and ordering overpriced junk from some asshat who would rather be doing ANYTHING but answering phones wehre he works.
Great job!

SOCAL????
Quit your complaining, there's a thread for that.
I like Tech crap in SoCal. One less forum to check. Plus alot of the tech is here because it relates to the SoCal people more then other parts of the country.

you talk about the bolt on crap and forgot to mention the track bar mount, a stock track bar mount, a chop saw, a twisted brain and a welding machine and the OverKill track bar mount is ready!!!

What we didnt post was that this allso has the provision for the frame brace to run from this side to the other. Agreed, support your local craftsmen and support some one who cares about the end product and user.

I have the RE1600 trackbar and I have had nothing but problems with it, the single shear configuration eventually wallows out the hole in the stock trackbar bracket (no matter how carefully I drill it out or how ridiculously tight I get the bolt) and I get clunking. That looks like a terrific solution.
Can I get Mr.Overkill to make me one? :D

Yes and yes. He is at work but tonight I'm sure he'll chime in.
He can drill it to a 5/8" hole. Just need to make sure the misalignment fits 1.5" or Troy will have to use some other steel or spacers (this one was 2" x 4" square 1/4" tubing so the ID is 1.5"). Worse comes to worse, a 3/4" rod end is pretty cheap these days. ($25.50 from poly performance but you'll need the misalignment spacers.)

I have the stock bracket off mine for a base. I'll get it to you troy soon so you can whip up another. The idea being that no one ever has to go without they just leave you there old one so you can make another. :)

I must be having problems with my pm's since Im just a regular member. Here is what I sent in the pm. You can feel free to email me with a response or try to send me a pm here.
Mike (willy51) pointed me to the thread about the trackbar bracket that you fabbed for him. He helped me install my RE trackbar and I was wondering how much you were charging for these brackets?
Also how much did it cost to go from 5/8" to 3/4" on the heim?
Thanks
Mike
