Not poking at you Sid, but this is another example of the hurt caused by having two Associations in such a small area. I'm guess that the E4WD didn't know about this?

I don't believe that Fall Crawl is open to the GP :read:

It's a run put on by the NEA to bring all it's member clubs together for one event, but you have to be a member of an NEA club to sign up. Even limiting it to the 15 or so NEA clubs, it still books up early for all 12 vehicles on 10 or 11 trail rides both days.

And yes, I'm daytripping Sunday for the Carnage Hill run. :sunshine:

I'm not following what your saying about "hurt" Erik. The EC4WDA doesn't really have anything to do with Fall Crawl, they host several big events of their own like Florida Vacation and the food drive and toys for tots runs coming up at he end of the year and probably a few more I'm forgetting.

At the risk of dining on this can of worms, I don't see anything hurtfull about having the two organizations. They are both unique enough to operate independantly and co-exist harmoniously. I think it would be great if it were possible for them to work together more but I think that is slowly happening with things like COALT and RIOHVA...ultimately I don't think there's much bad about organized wheeling whatever umbrella it may fall under and there's a whole lot of good work being done by both groups.

Let's see how i can put this into type.

I see having two organizations as a hurtful thing, in that, not all the wheelers in the region are exposed to all of the events that take place.

Instead of having one community of wheelers, we now have a community that is split into two different associations.

I'm not implying that either association is better or worse than the other. Simply that, if we were all in one association, we would all know about the opportunities for wheeling out there, and we would all have a larger collection of land to wheeling on.

The sport will truly be prosperous when organizations start to work together, at least in my point of view. This is already evident by the clubs starting to work together, and by what RIOHVA and COALT are accomplishing.

Like you said, I don't know if Fall Crawl was open to the GP, but it kinda feels like we sometimes play "I've got a secret", because we belong to one of the associations, and not to the other.

Hope some of my ramblings make sense.

Fall Crawl isn't open to the public but I believe the bigger Region D events like Florida Vacation are. But each individual clubs runs aren't usually open to the public either. Really, the VAST majority of club runs are not open to the GP, typically if you want to go on a run with a club you have to be a member of that club, that's why alot of people are members of multiple clubs. If a person wants they can join a club in both associations and have it all.

I understand all of that. And it's true.

I just feel that we might be better off under one big association, that's all.

well said Bic... even though this drifted a bit off-topic..

Eric, you have to bear in mind that EC4WDA is East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association.. not a "regional" organization like NEA4WDC.. EC4WDA Region "D" is very active with NEA members and at this point in the game there is no real posibility or even tangible benefit to having everyone be one big happy family under the same umbrella. a few clubs do hold membership on both sides of the fence and my new club will likely end up doing it as well..

a club/organization NEEDS to keep things somewhat members-only.. other wise the benefits for the members are slowly eliminated.

so.... who's going to the fall crawl?? :viking:

Wish i were going!

A couple of JonFund members are already up there. Lucky them.

BTW, I understand that I'm living in a dream world, I know the "one big umbrella" idea is only that, an idea. But hey, I can dream right.

There are some big things happening in JonFund, so I definitely understand the membership benefits part. But hey, if we were under one big umbrella, then the greenies wouldn't be members right, so the wheelers would have benefits. :)
