Transfer case vent tube brocken

So i'm rebuilding my 231 and have this little problem!

When i was removing the transfercase I noticed the vent tube was brocken and has been for a while. How do you remove the old piece from the case? I can get vise grips on it, and can even turn the piece a little but cant seem to pull it out. Is it pressed in or is there a clip inside?
