Got this size because it was a match to the rubber bushings that came with my Rocky-Road shocks.

I read to get wider ones but wasn't sure about going with that. It seemed that if you went wider you had to go thicker aswell.
Everyone has said that you want a "balloon" effect with rubber ones, what do you want a poly bushing to look like when it is tight, torque spec? Also the washers are concave, the washers concave into each other?

Not understanding your problem here?

Should have concave washers mating the rubber bushings together with the fender wall in between the bushings. A new set of bushings should last you for a long time. Are you overtighting them? The bushings should be about the same size as the washers then whened tightened down the bushings should be just bigger than the washer.
