231 capabilities

Im guessing alot of you guys here have done engine converstions and have seen things blow up or work well.

Well my question is has anyone put a substantial amount of power to a 92 NP231?

In your opinion how much HP and Torque could it take before it becomes to much.

Also what are the available upgrades to the 231?

I don't know how much it can handle but run it till it wears out and then you can put in the fat chain and a 6 pinion planet and it will take more. Dodge put the 231DHD in 1500 trucks.

a little searching will go a long way.

wide chain kits, beefier planitary set, and larger mainshafts, 2-low, as well as slip yoke kits are all available. the 231 was used behind MANY vehicles, of varying power ratings and many of these upgrades straight from New Venture/Process.
