I'm sure this has been covered before, but, oh well. :)

Who has put an HO throttle body on a Renix system, and what is involved in doing it. I already have an HO motor, with an adapter plate to put the Renix TB on the HO intake manifold. This is in the buggy, so no smog issues, just need to be able to hook it up.

I'm considering a bored Renix TB or just using an HO.

TIA,

I personally haven't done this to my Renix (yet) but I did find this (http://www.rockmodified.com/offroad/Tech/TB/tb_perf.htm) a few years ago and saved the link in case I do. I don't know if it will be of any help to you or not.....

You don't need the rest of the kit, as the TB will bolt right to your intake manifold. I think that should do it for you?

Give it to me again Goat. What years/parts are you wanting to do.

I have the following.
90 XJ
95 motor
99 intake
95 TB
90 Sensors
Hesco's TPS adapter for using the 90 TPS on a 95 TB.
Had to cut and extend one of the sensor wires for length.
Replaced throttle cable with 95 model, used 99 throttle cable bracket.

Everything except cruise control works great.

I have an '89 rig with all the '89 engine control stuff including the throttle body, with an adapter mating the TB to a '98 motor with the '98 manifold. Since the motor is HO, and I have a good header and 2.5" exhaust with no cat, and open element air cleaner, I'm thinking it would be nice to have a TB bigger than the smaller 52mm Renix. Choices would be a stock HO or a bored out Renix. Maybe the bored out Renix is the easiest solution, but I'd like to know what's involved in using an HO.

With the better low end cam in the '98, and the smaller Renix TB, I bet the lower end torque curve of this motor is pretty good. But, since I'm racing in King of the Hammers the top end is also important. Last race we ran flat out some of the time, and were regularly accelerating hard.

If you're looking to go with a bored out Renix, theres a guy on ebay that makes them with a 59.5 mm bore. I've had one for about 2 years and I'm really happy with it, they're only about $100 too. Here's a link to it
