Last night I was pulled over on my bike and got a ticket for "Operating Motorcycle on permit" because I was riding at night. Its a $137 fine and I lose my licence for 30days since maines licence's are on probation for the first two years.
Basically, I want to contest it and try to be able to keep my licence. So I can, you know, go to work! Unfortinatly I work construction, so im driving constantly and need to have my licence to work (especially since im the store runner)
Problem is theres no way around it, I rode at night and theres no way to say I didnt know or anything. Any ideas on what I can say or do to keep my licence? a

Well it's a little late now, but I would've grabbed his gun and capped a round in his ass just for being a dick. Oh well, live and learn!

You can in some states ask for a larger fine in place of a licence suspension. Not possible in my state, though maybe in you'rs. Seek legitimate legal advise over strangers on the internet. You may want to get a lawyer. The whole thing may just get thrown out if you're lawyer shows up with you to the thing.
What do you ride?

Most states allow a temporary license just for commuting to work, to places for work related things, and home.
Look into that.

Suzuki DR350, dualsported is what I ride. I dont think capping him would have been the best choice. Im guess murder is a couple steps above riding on a permit at night. lol

You were on a bike and you let a cop catch you?
on a dual-sport?
You deserve the fine and suspension.
bottom line:
you were breaking the law-pay the fine-learn another lesson
next time...
don't break it or be prepared to pony up with the fallout.

Plead no contest with explaination. Throw yourself on the mercy of the court and ask for permission to drive to and from work, then don't break the law. :D

While you're waiting for your court date, research the various 'retention holsters' on the market... learn how to ID them quickly, and reverse engineer the draw processes from the alternate-user perspective. This may come in handy in the courtroom... the Deputy there will normally be armed. Take them all out! Save the last one for self though...
Or just cap them with your own gat, BEFORE you get the tag run, you cheap - no license having fool. It's quicker & easier that way. Pick up your spent shell and change barrels/firing pins ASAP. Shoot a bunch of different ammo thru the new tube... leave it dirty for awhile.
In seriousness, get a lawyer... plead the 8th,9th & 10th, or whatever works... since you have a job, you ought to be able to keep some sort of provisional lic. -no job=no money for the fine=jail time normally... or do the 30 days and see part A above. Get your bike lic (Take the MSF Basic course too...) you scofflaw.
Edit: IF possible... tie that offending after dark bike trip to being related to work... ("Them slave-driving bastiges worked me dawn to dark, your honor")

And it might be easier than shooting everyone in the courtroom too, unless your into that.
But remember, they ARE all guilty of something... why else would they be there? Everyone has a time to go... might as well be in a blaze of glory.
Yell "Wolverines!" loud enough for the mic to pick up if you go that way...
Thanks.

seriously, take it to court and tell them that you ended up unexpectantly working late, past dark and was just trying to get home so you could restart the vicious cycle of work all over again in the morning. they may go easier on you. (would be a good idea to show up already compleated the motorcycle safety course to show inititive)
