Anyone with a Ipod nano have there LCD crack yet?:gonnablow Just wondering if this is a problem they are having. I know the 'L' stands for liquid, but do you think leaving it in a car in 100* heat would crack it?

i highly doubt leaving it in the car in the heat would crack it... i know i cracked my cell phone screen cuz i had it in my back pocket and then "smartly" decided to sit down on a cement bench outside a local leisur center.. however my brother does have the ipod nano and has dropped it MANY times and it has not cracked yet i dont imagine this is a problem

Windows were down, but it was in the center counsel so I guessing alittle hotter than 100. Has anyone had there car stereo display burst from heat?

i doubt it was heat if the windows were down, i imagine it should handle 120-130 no problem

are you 100% sure about that? because if.. it doesnt LOOK like somone has pressed on the screen then they SHOULD warranty it... best bet is to take it in and tell them it poped or somthing haha

I didn't get the $100 warranty from circuit city. Nowhere to take it to.
Strait from there web site...
"If your iPod's LCD display is cracked due to accidental damage, do not send your iPod in for service. Coverage for this type of damage is excluded under Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod and AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod, and service is not available under the terms of Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions."

Apparently they dont belive me. Customer service on there site is a joke.
All drop down boxes, and nowhere to actualy type a message.:looser:
I do like my nano though. I guess Ill have to get a new display from Ebay.

I leave mine(20gig) in my jeep all the time and have no problems with the lcd. Temps over 100 with no tint and no headliner, it gets very toasty.

Dunno - I've got a Creative Zen Nano 512Mb, which I like because it's all solid-state, no moving parts.

The damn thing don't skip...

Probobly woulden't be able to. They are made to withstand probobly 130, and even bypassing that woulden't likely result in a cracked screen. No, usually a cracked screen is the result of physical damage on you're behalf (whether you rememer doing it or not).

No warrantee will cover a cracked screen (with the exception of those there just for that purpose) because they call it physical damage and even if it's accadental they still won't cover it. $100? Fawk that. Honestly, I used to sell those warrantees. NEVER EVER get a warrantee from a store as an extended plan. NEVER.

The only extended warrantee I would get is from the Manufacturer it's self. I.E, Applecare on a laptop. Not worth it on a periferal IMO.

i got my ipod for 100 bucks because the screen was cracked. i just ordered a screen off ebay and popped it open and changed it in 10 minutes.

I strongly disagree. I worked for 2 years at BestBuy doing sales and saw first hand how much stuff came back and got replaced, often with newer better models. Between a laptop and a 30gig MP3 player with service plans, over 4 years I have saved about $2000 (1 laptop replacement with significant upgrade, 3 mp3 replacements one of which was a significant upgrade)

the heat might have made a difference, i left my regular 20GB ipod in my console on a few 100+* days, and now i hear clicking and popping coming from it, and i can get it to play, but it wont show up on my computer. this is also my third ipod, first two were replaced free under Apple warranty. but the warranty was up in march, so i guess its time for a video ipod.

I haven't even scratched my Video IPod yet, but I've been pretty carefull with the thing, but I've not only bought a Speck rubberized cover for it (which I think they make for the for most of the IPod line) , but I also got a low tack plastic wrap for it too recently.
