I'm doing some hood vents this weekend, and I'm adding some wire screen to the undersides. What is the best goop to use to attach them? I was thinking RTV or hot-melt glue.

Plumbers GOOP, will last. Second choice probably automotive mastic or epoxy glue. If you glue to the paint, it may peel and cause problems sometime.
Plumbers GOOP is one of the more important tool box staples, in addition to RTV, epoxy glue and super glue.
Plumbers GOOP is a superior plastic adhesive, actually works better than epoxy in some applications (I use it to repair the front plastic bumper ends and broken tail lights). Much better adhesion than normal silicon. The original formula was as a Lexan (plastic) adhesive and was actually liquid Lexan (Lexan disolved/suspended in a fast evaporating solvent). They have various formulas for GOOP, Plumbers, plastic etc. but the only difference in the formula I've ever noticed was in the labeling.

Well, I had a few out in the man hole (garage) last night, and ended up using Shoe Goo. We'll see how it lasts.
