chirping in clutch

I am running a 97 40 with a 5 spd. It shifts fine, but when i down shift, i get a chirping sound that is definently associated with the clutch. just curious if anyone has had this problem. and what i should do?? i think i will problem change the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing, but i want to see if that is really the prolbem before i embark on that journey.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I'd look at the pilot bearing while I was in there too.
