I travel Cary to Purnell road by way of 540/50/98 workdays. Dark green ’94, 4” lift, C4x4 front bumper w/red shackles, 255/70/15’s. UNIT 1. Hard to miss and makes folks chuckle. It’s setup as a surf fishing machine, lots of white PVC bolted to the rear quarters, one seater 4-door (flip-up passenger seat), Lots of under floor storage, 20 rod overhead rack inside, built in tackle/bait station, unique roof rack… If you like surf fishing you’ll get it, if you don’t fish, you’ll just shake your head.

I fish the Outer Banks and the dog and I have spent many long weekends living out of it on the Core banks. Yeah, it’s a little tight in there but beats living out of a tent.

Can’t post pictures as all the storage sites are blocked at work. The only action/beach pictures I have are before the lift.

I remember seeing ya XJ of Death. Give a wave if ya cruise by me, I wave to any XJ that looks like it is being used for more than grocery getting.

Next planned UNIT 1 excursion is to Buxton (Outer banks), 2 weeks, end of October into November (fall fishing at its best!). If you’ll be out there give me a shout and we can hit the sand. Or if you just want to see what the inside of an XJ looks like with only the drivers seat and center console in drop me a note.

Not born, but raised in north Raleigh, then went to school at ECU and stayed there until a month ago, now just south-east of Raleigh in Clayton.

Today's my b-day and purchasing a 4.5" RE lift, should be on the road (actually off the road) in 2 months or so.

I remember emr1101, looked like fun with no doors.

I’m game for a get together but UNIT 1 isn’t up for serious rock/woods wheeling. It’s setup for beach crawling loaded with a weeks worth of gear. I can setup the tarp and hold the fort down making sure to keep the beverages cold! Maybe get a fire going for burgers when y’all get back.

I live in Wake county. My XJ is just a baby though. I'm working on all the maintenance it needs to get it back to stock show room performance at the moment so it's on jack stands right now. I have a date set this weekend with a torch and the passenger drum brake. Damn things on there so well even the Aerokroil and a mini sledge can't get it off.

I was planning on leaving it stock lift height for a year or so just to get a start in offroading and make sure I'm starting with a solid jeep, theres enough stuff to do around here for stock XJ's I hope.

I've seen a couple nice looking lifted XJ's fairly frequently traveling on 540 that I haven't seen pictures of here yet so there are more people out there.
