Hey guys we need to Decide where to have our next big event.

Your Choices are Katemcy in October or Barnwell in October/November

The Katemcy date is already set since its the end of the year run there. October 4-5. As for Barnwell If thats decided as a yes then we can discuss dates. Please vote and vote soon. Trying to get started now on this.

I won't make katemcy, too far, and barnwell is close but sucks. If its at barnwell I'll try to make it.

No chance of it being at hot springs?

our last run was at hot springs, we're trying to spread out a bit to include everyone.

Since I'm a NOOB and Jennifer will go anyway I/we have no opinion at this time....but would like to go anywhere provided we have the funds.

The bigest problem for me will be funds. The seconds part oct nov is going to be very busy time for me. I would love to go and try some places out other than local spots. I have been to Bridgeport and that place is going to be nice once they open up.

Oh, thought it was to gilmer.

If you are trying to keep the driving distance fair, Gilmer is prolly the most central location...

Although, I would be all for meeting at Bridgeport!

As much as I want to go to Katemcy (and oh GOD do I want to go to Katemcy) I think that we're not realistically going to be able to field enough folks there. The drive distance is un-tenable for most, especially considering gas prices. As it is, running to Gilmer is at least $150 bucks in Gas alone these days.

the moab fall fling is october as well... just something to keep in mind...

i've been wanting to go to katemcy as well...

can't we mayhaps get together by area and try to make a showing at both? I live near Waco and would be stoked to take someone with, or copilot a rig. I am not afraid to take my heep, and will try to get stuck. We are a group, which would by definition mean we show up in "a group" . Plus, isn't it funnier if we can laugh at each others broke down rigs, and get pics for other to laugh at? This is an open invite to a copilot. We split, you laugh and snap pics. You spill drink, ride in wet seat.

Yeah but thats way to far for some of us with gas prices right now.

I think the point about Moab was that some people might have a conflict in October....or will be too poor for both.

goodburbon
June 26th, 2008, 12:10
It'll be a poor mans Texan fall fling. Honestly I doubt if I will be able to make it anywhere but Gilmer or Shiloh ridge the way my finances are panning out.

I think a lot of us are feeling the same way. Chia and I discussed aiming for a November 7 - 9 event in Gilmer. That way we avoid conflict with Moab for those folks heading out that way, but we're still n the ballpark. Thoughts?

I'll be ass deep in the end of my final semester here, but should be able to make it.

November date mandates Gilmer though. Katemcy closes for the winter.

I'd vote for Katemcy--great place for those who haven't been there-- but alas Moab is calling my name, so won't be able to make it :D

Why Bridgeport. Its only 300 Acres. That would take what 3 hours to play in before it gets boring.

rokclimbertx
June 26th, 2008, 15:26
yes, i only mentioned moab for those that might not be able to do both... or if they can (i'd try to) do both just adding that not scheduling it the same week would be a plus...

I would rather hit Katemcy if enough people can make it down there. I accedentaly voted for Barnwell (new guy, what can I say!), but I will try to make it to where ever it decided

I think we should at least do something in hot springs towards the end of the year. I have to have revenge on power wagon hill....Luckily I think my new rubicon lift, Arb front locker, 4.10's, and 33's might get the job done.

The fact is that no matter where we hold it some members will not be able to attend. In the interest of making this club beneficial to all members I suggest holding an event somewhere like bridgeport. Then an event in Clayton, then an event in Katemcy, then hot springs again,

We're such a large chapter area wise that it mandates us holding events in multiple locations just to try to have something in everyones neck of the woods occasionally. It doesn't really matter exactly what order the areas come in, just that we hit them all. I will say that the majority of the active membership is within a few hours of Dallas and it would be wise to have a run In the new park at bridgeport. A bit of a dual attraction if you will.
New park+ many people in range= decent turnout and a fun campfire :D

If we're talking October, I'd do Bridgeport. (...assuming the oil analysis comes back ok, if not I'll be replacing the head about that time.)

Never been any of the places in Texas. Got started wheeling in Ouray.

Ramsey

260 miles, might be doable if there is some decent wheeling there.

Camp fires in TX Brandon? Surely you jest! We have an almost year round burn band around here because of all the dead grass!

In October? Are you serious?

Could everyone keep their eyes open for me, and if someone finds a place that really is "land of the free, home of the brave" could they let me know, because i want to move there.
