297 axle ears stretched

I just inspected my juckyard 297 axle shafts, and the caps are spinning in the ears. Once I removed the c clips, one of the caps fell out, and the others could be taken out by hand.

Are these axles wasted? or could a use sleeve retainer or some other method to save them.

They're junk, get some new shafts.

Yep, no good!! If you just bought them from a junkyard then you may be able to return them, depending on how cool they are....


If you can't get any more for cheap (which I would find hard to believe) then you could make a few tack welds to keep the caps in place and use them as spares, but it wouldn't be ideal.
