since our peak wheeling season is just around the corner i figured i would get a post going for those of us that live in the valley of the sun.... post up where your from and what you got!
I'm living in chandler, just east of the 101, i have:
94 xj white 2 door 4cyl 5 speed 4x4 on the way, comes stock, but with parts such as a roof rack, long arm kit high steer kit, 33's, beadlocks and a few other goodies.... gotta go get it soon
96 xj white 4 door 4cyl 5 speed 2x4, not on the road yet, needs a few more repairs, but i got it dirt cheap.... plans: repair, budget boost lift, shiny wheels and drive it.
my girlfriend has a 99 tj w/ about 6" of lift and 33's.
that about sums up our collection.... how about you?

You guys need to get a membership here and create your own chapter.
Not that I don't like having the AZ guys as part of the IC but I have found that we gain lots of support and new members buy having regular runs.
To me AZ seems to be the perfect spot for a new chapter.
Something to think about.

It was actually stolen in Glendale near 59th and Thunderbird. My girlfriend was in a wreck a few days earlier and I offered my Jeep so she could go to work. When she came out to go to lunch, no XJ in site. It was found 4 days later in Phoenix between near Indian School and I-17.

94 XJ. D-44 rear D-30 front. 4:88's, ezlockers front & rear. 5.5" Rubicon HD lift. 33X10.5X15 Super Swamper's and other stuff.
Would be interested in a Arizona Chapter of NAXJA. I put out a feeler when I first joined but it didn't really go anywhere.
I'll post up in the general discussion area to see if there are more Az members. I don't hit the chapter section often because it seems to be more Utah, Colorado etc.
If there is serious interest here p.m. me or e-mail me and I'll start a running list to see if we can get something rolling.

From the NAXJA Bylaws:
This is the basic info needed to start a chapter. I high lighted a the requirement fo rnumber of members.
Article VII – Chapters
Section 1: Chapter Formation
1. Subject to approval by the Board of Directors, a Local or Regional Chapter may be formed by any group of fifteen (15) or more General Members in good standing. In order to form a Chapter, such group of Members shall inform the Board of Directors of their intention to form a Chapter, and describe the geographic region to be included in the proposed Chapter. If any portion of the proposed geographic region overlaps the region of a previously established Chapter, the proposed Chapter shall either revise its proposal to omit such area or shall obtain permission from the governing body of the previously established Chapter to overlap the territory of such previously established Chapter.
2. In order to obtain approval from the Board of Directors to establish a Chapter, the group of Members proposing such Chapter shall demonstrate to the Board of Directors that sufficient interest exists within the proposed region to sustain a Chapter. The prospective Chapter shall submit to the Board of Directors a list of Members within the proposed region who wish to establish a Chapter, together with a table of organization indicating the initial Officers of the Chapter, and documentation of their election by Members within the proposed region. As a Chapter grows and it becomes feasible, they may split or divide. At this point, all parties involved should apply for Chapter status to the Board of Directors by submitting a list of Members and the new geographic areas described.
Section 2: Chapter Membership
1. Membership in a Chapter shall be open to any Member of the Corporation in good standing that resides within the geographic region encompassed by a particular Chapter. For purposes of establishing a Chapter, the initial Chapter membership shall reside within the proposed Chapter’s proposed geographic region.
2. After a Chapter has been formed and approved by the Board of Directors, membership in any Chapter shall be open to all Members of the Corporation, irrespective of place of residence. Members of the Corporation may declare and hold membership in more than one Chapter simultaneously.
3. Chapter membership is an automatic privilege of Membership in the Corporation. Chapters may not expel any Member from any Chapter. In the event of conduct by any Member, which a Chapter deems unsuitable or unacceptable, a complaint shall be referred to the Board of Directors by the governing body of the Chapter. The Board of Directors shall consider the complaint and may remove the accused Member from the Chapter, place the accused Member on probation for a period specified by the Board of Directors, or remove the accused individual from Membership in the Corporation.
Section 3: Chapter Governance
1. Chapters shall function under and in accordance with the by-laws of the North American XJ Association, with the exception that each Chapter shall elect its own Chapter Board of Directors comprised of at least three (3) but no more than nine (9) directors, who shall be members in good standing, and who shall reside within the geographic area served by the Chapter.
2. Chapter officers shall include a President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer, together with such other officers as the Chapter may from time to time determine. The term of office will be up to each Chapter and will be at least one (1) year but no more than two (2) years.
3. Each Chapter shall have a treasury. Contributions, payments and reimbursements from the national treasury to a Chapter treasury shall be clearly documented and accounted for. Contributions, payments and reimbursements by a Chapter to the national treasury shall likewise be accurately documented and accounted for. Each Chapter shall designate one (1) member of the Chapter Board of Directors to act as the Chapter representative to the Board of Directors of NAXJA. Such Chapter representatives shall serve only in an advisory capacity in regard to matters before the Board of Directors, which directly affect Chapters. Chapter representatives to the Board of Directors shall not be entitled to make or to second motions to the Board of Directors, except as otherwise provided for Members to make or to second motions to the Board of Directors. Chapter representatives to the Board of Directors shall not be entitled to vote on motions before the Board of Directors of NAXJA.

Do it tactfully and tastfully as to not scare them off. Make it a benifit of membership.

This would be an awesome opportunity for us in Arizona to establish our own chapter of Naxja. The chance of many of us being able to make runs, meet & Greets etc set up by the Chapter we belong to are slim simply due to our geographic location.
We could do Naxja stuff right here in our own back yard. This could be a really positive shot in the arm for the XJ owners community in Arizona!

I've had positive input regarding starting a Arizona Chapter from 10 people with 50% of them being actual NAXJA members.
I really thought with a state as big as Arizona we could get the numbers together to start our own chapter.
I would like to have NAXJA events close enough for us to tie in to and be able to have local meet & greets etc. I think there are numerous benefits of having a local chapter rather than being a member of one that the chances of attending the events are very slim.

Hey all,
I sent out p.m.'s to some of the folks that aren't official :NAXJA: members in an effort to see if this is actually feasible. In fact, I screwed up and some got 2 p.m.'s. Y'all can just consider yourselves lucky. :laugh3: To start a Chapter we need to have your "name in RED"!!
As of right now, only about 50% of the folks expressing interest are actual :NAXJA: members.
:NAXJA: is an excellent resource for technical information and general XJ/MJ info but I think we can move it one step higher with the formation of an Arizona Chapter. It will give us an official presence and give us a better opportunity to wheel together, have some wrenching parties and the state and world will be a better place to live in.
If you are already a :NAXJA: member living in Arizona and are willing to support the formation of a Arizona Chapter, please post up here.
If you are not a :NAXJA: member but just use the forum, it's time to give something back. Put your name in RED and lets put Arizona on the map in the world of :NAXJA:.
Please post up here your actual intentions or P.M. me with your actual intentions and comments so we can get an accurate read on who is actually interested.
Thanks!!

There have only been 12 actual NAXJA members that live in Arizona respond positively.
I have had a significant number of forum users respond that they would like to be part of an Arizona chapter of NAXJA. It takes your name in "RED" to be considered a NAXJA member.
If the forum users that responded are serious about helping to start an Arizona chapter, it's time to buck up and join NAXJA and support the organization.

As someone that grew up in the Globe/Miami area, and have lived in Texas since 76 I envey the crap out of you guys. Almost all the land in texas is privately owned. I'm a NAXJA member and have no chapter here.
So good luck to you, and have fun. "90 XJ PIONEER slowly being built".

No, No, No!:D
To be honest, I think we need to get the membership in Arizona up before we try to form our own chapter. If we come up with the minimum 15 members to start a chapter but they are scattered from Flagstaff to Douglas and Yuma to Safford it's going to be tough to do any NAXJA Chapter events.
There seems to be some serious interest here in Tucson and looks like a possible get together/run on Sunday to the Three Feathers area.
I've had a lot of Forum Users express an interest in a Arizona Chapter BUT unless you have kicked in the $35.00 and your name is in RED you are not a member of NAXJA. (It's less than 10 cents a day!)
I'm open to suggestions.
For the Tucson 3 Feathers get together, where do y'all plan on meeting and what time, just in case I can shake loose? :shhh: We usually meet at the Circle K on Tanque Verde east of Houghton.

Also, I was thinking that there has to be more AZ people out there than what we know about already. I see a TON of jeeps lifted around here.
Maybe I will put www.naxja.org (http://www.naxja.org) on my rear window for some free advertising. LOL

Yes, you are on the NAXJA MEMBERS list. I went over my count again.
there are currently 13 NAXJA members interested in forming an Arizona Chapter.
I have had response from 9 forum users that stated an interest. Out of those initial 9 forum users, to the best of my knowledge, only one has followed through and joined.hasta

well, I wont be able to make the trail run tomorrow morning, DAT SUCKS!!!!
I had to get my tires replaced today due to a LARGE SPIKE that found its way into the sidewall of my tire. So I upgraded to 33 x 12.50 R15 Dunflop muds anyway. But while wrenching it tonight, I found that I have a severely BENT trac bar mount end. This is the upgraded HD one from Rusty's, so I cant just go buy a standard tie rod end. So, have a blast without me, and I will run into you guys in the near future.
Later.
P.S. COME ON GUYS, 2 more people to get it going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

i can't get membership for same reason (under 18) but i could be (more likely Will be) a real member in March - so if number 15s not hit by then I'll be in a hurry to get my naxja sticker. I may show up tommorow morning at the gas station.

In my opinion, Just Join the ArizonaXJ club as a supporting member of NAXJA.
We do 3 major events per year and with a tad more organization we could raffle off some products at the next event and donate to NAXJA..
You will be your own member in Naxja by payin your dues and participating.
By joining the ArizonaXJ club (no fees, fun group) your a member with fellow Arizona XJ owners and wheelers.. This will keep it all simple and we can all still have a great time together..
If you guys are just looking to get your own space on Naxja well, talk to the Head Hancho's and see if we make a large enough donation if they will grant AZ our own space..
That is all.. :D

No donation needed. All you need to do is have the required number of members, set up your own BOD and then a few smaller details (open a bank account and such)
Having your own chapter in NAXJA is good for everyone. It's good for NAXJA because having the local element is the biggest way to gain new members.
Having your own local chapter allows you to do the fun stuff like throw Christmas parties, have your own chapter events and other such things.
By starting an AZ chapter you are not starting a new jeep club. You are just making it easier for locals to access the best XJ club there is already.

That is correct and also http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/arizonaXJ/.
Myself, I prefer the forum based character of NAXJA but that's just me!
Until this past Sunday, where I was going to hang my "official hat" was up in the air. The run Sunday solidified my decision.
I think there is an awesome opportunity to build a great chapter in Arizona. I think I met what will be the cornerstone of the NAXJA Arizona Chapter this past Sunday. Great folks, great conversation and a great trail run.
Charlou Gap on December 16 will be a great chance for everyone to get together.

As we all discuss the potential formation of a new chapter of NAXJA, I think all should familarize themselves with the bylaws of membership, runs, guests etc etc.

Jim, I agree with you. I think I met some awsome people and saw some great mods to rigs. I had a great time even though I didnt really get to wheel with you due to rubbing issues. I cant wait till the gap. I have trimmed and even raised up just a tad higher ( 4.5" to 6" ) so as not to sit like a stink bug anymore. LOL
I have really noticed ALOT more jeeps around town that are modified so we need to find a way to get there attention to this board.
BTW, did you run across those rack mounts by any chance?
P.M. me if ya did.

Jim has been keeping track of who is counted.
With a thread that is growing it is hard to keep track of who posted and is counted. Just the nature of the beastie.
Jim, can you post up a list of there three groups. It would let every know if they are counted.
1) members in red that are for the chapter
2) forum users who have not ponies up the money but are for the chapter
3) forum user that a still to young but are for the chapter
It might also help put the pressure on the forum users to pay up :D

Basically folks, the ball is in your court. We have the numbers to get it started, just need some folks to get up off their wallets and spend $35.00. It's less than a dime a day!!

It appears to me there is more interest now than in the past almost 2 years I've been around. Yea, I'm a short-timer here.
We actually did an XJ run (yes, unofficial NAXJA XJ run). I'm not ready to give up on it. There has been enough interest, just, as you say, need some folks to part with a few bucks. I can start another thread if there is a 7 page limit! J/K!! :spin1:

If half of those forum users join up you will have a great start to a chapter. If just 3 join you have the numbers.
I missed most of the first year of the IC chapter. They kept scheduling meetings when I was on call:(
When I did join we had about 20 members. We are now have about 60 members. Once you start the chapter it will grow. Slow at first but if the chapter is active it will grow!
The single most difficult part is having people volunteer to lead. If you have good people volunteering for the BOD it will work.

Not all the folks involved in the starting of this chapter are going to be at the Charlou Gap run. Some are in Phoenix and other parts of the state. Everyone involved needs to have a say in the first BOD of the Arizona chapter.
I started a thread earlier this morning regarding the start up of the chapter. I think we should start posting input and ideas regarding these issues in that thread, IMHO. :wave1:
