here's the deal, some of you know I live in castle rock, I'm looking at a big career change but I'll be working out of longmont, how in the hell am I going to make that work? There's a big pay cut involved for the first year to two so I can't afford to just sell this place, pick up, and move. All I can think to do is find a cheap room for rent up there and drive up monday AM, and stay up there until Friday and drive home, I don't know. It's putting a damper on the whole thing since I'll be flat broke and I have this huge hurdle to overcome.

Considering the cost of gas these days, A comute like that would never happen for me. I used to commute from Co. Spgs to Golden every day for a year.....life sucked!!!! Weigh the options and determine which works best for you.

holy crap forget that noise. The GF works with a bunch of people that commute from the springs to the DTC and that's about the same distance as here to lonmont I guess, but going I25 every day through downtown yuck.
A cheap like 91 or 92 honda is definitely in order, something that gets great mileage and doesn't cost anything.

Check out vanpooling. It the route is half way close, get a beater and leave it up north.

I looked around on some carpool sites and couldn't find much, I'll search some more.
I guess the time involved in actually getting there is as much of a concern as the cost, it's got to be what, an hour and a half? I need to drive it and clock it.

You might consider the E-470/I-70/I-76 loop around the downtown parking lot. I'm not sure Highway 93 is worth the trouble.

it's only 10 miles further to loop around E-470 but then I'm paying like $10 each way to drive :(

I'm really thinking the only feasible way to make this happen is to rent a cheap room and just "live" up there when I'm on shift until I bump a couple pay grades and can afford to sell this house and move closer.

Doh!!! I was thinking 470, don't know why I put an "E" out front. You just may be right about getting a room.

well i'll be selling my 90 golf soon, avg's 35mpg. I know of an apt complex thats sirt cheap off of 120th and Washington in Northglenn. about 450$/mo for a 1 bedroom. Its a quick drive up there to longmont, I live farther south in Thornton and commute to longmont everyday.

well you could go either way but the E side (I remember it as the E stands for extra expense, lol) is further north and a more direct shot
