Engine cuts out?

Searched but didn't see anything. Not a good searcher. 1995 4.0L. So I have been having this problem the engine cuts out. It usually does it on the freeway 55-75, 2000 rpms. It will run fine then all of a sudden it dies. Drops rpm and and shuts off. Then Jump backs to normal rpm and runs. Either does this once and will be fine or does this two or three times and I have to pull off the road and wont start for a bit. Just replaced spark plugs and fuel filter. Any ideas?

Most likely the CKS (Crank Position Sensor) needs to be replaced.

Replacing mine this w/e and not looking forward to it.

Actually that's classic signs of not getting any fuel. Could be the pump.

Yeah Doesn't happen all the time. just every once in a while.. Let me know how hard it is to change that out.

If you want a really easy way to change the CPS, then drop the crossmember.

Then simply get some long extensions and monkey your way to the 2 bolts. It's really easy to do it this way. Careful 'cause your engine and tranny will tilt down so anything behind them might get crushed/bind.
