Ford axles used a radius arm setup. The axle has diamond shaped mounts that were wrapped in bushing material and clamped to the radius arms via a c-shaped clamp assembly.
the early models had the diamond shaped mount welded on. Those can be cut off and replaced with the bracketry for the XJ 4-link seutp. Later models like the 79 used an axle housing with the diamond shaped mounts cast on, making them unusable for cutting.
I may have used the wrong term with cast C's.
