Ok all. I am almost ready. Here is a list of projects that I need to complete before Moab and I might need some help. Having a baby has proved that its hard for Daddy to slip out to the garage.
Here is what is going to happen shortly:
1. Regear front and rear
2. Locker up front
3. Dropbrackets and braces with different LCAs
4. Bumpstops
5. Trackbar bushing replacement
6. New alloy shafts and seals up front
7. Unit bearing replacement
8. 1 ton steering (yippee)
I want to tackle as much as possible at the same time when the re-gearing happens.
What I don't have:
- The 1-ton steering requires the 1/2" to 1" tapering / drilling tool for both knuckles and pitman arm
- 1/2 NC x 13 tap for the bumpstop studs
- coil spring compressor (not necessary but would definitely be easier)
- a firm date of when this will happen since I'm waiting for the locker and steering to arrive as well as my gear guy to become available.
Anyone have these tools that I could borrow when the time comes? and who is willing to help in exchange for Cerveza (post install) and za?

I got coil spring compressors and probably the tap(need to make sure it is still there), most likely won't be able to help unless I am already down in the area for some reason.

Josh, I have spring compressors, but you should not have to use those. Really, they just get in the way.
I may have the tapered reamer too, but mine is currently on loan to a friend in Pomona and I can't remember the measurement on it. He should be done with it in a couple of weeks.
I'll be gone fishin this weekend and at the Rubicon the week after next.

hmm. Well Scott's pretty tied up so I can't regear before Moab, unless someone has other recommendations. In the meantime, I'd still like to go ahead and do everything else.

See if you can get a hold of Frank Hayes. He's a local OC boy and is a good guy to boot.
He did my gears last time around.

So did I(8" skyjackers), I still have them though, he asked, they are more of a hinderance unless you are too lazy to disconnect the steering/trackbar etc.

I have or can get on short notice all of the tools, except for the regearing. You know how to find me. :)
Finished patching my heep together last night. Kevin did an excellent job, everything works except for my blower motor. Considering how fried the eletrical was, I'm not bitching.. i'll track down the blower problem this week.

I'll be out of town, but your welcome to do it at my dad's place. Its reasonably well equipped, has ample space and alot of the locals know how to find it. I'll PM you his number, he's already said its fine. He'll be out there working on his car anyways.

No. No dancing girls. That would only make me feel even worse for not being able to show up.

DUDE! I have a 1/2 drill you can use. I did not even think about it earlier.
I am working form home today, but give me a call. Maybe we can meet somewhere or you are welcome to come by and grab it.

Bad timing Josh! I'd help but the weekend before Moab is always busy for me. Got the tires to mount up, fluids to change, mounts to do (maybe), gear to stack up, and a barbecue on Sunday to attend.
It's gonna be a busy two days here ;)

Man... I wish I still lived in Southern California. I could be there to help. I really miss doing that. I'm not very good at wrenching, but I provide excellent ballast.:jester: :jester:
Anyway... I've also got my own heep to get ready. Drop brackets, new trackbar, wheel spacers, a bit more trimming and bigger shoes.

Just an update on the project:
First, let me graciously thank Grant for letting me use your shop and thanks for the help! :worship:
Big thanks to Jose Solorza and Johnny for your help. Jose, you don't ask too many questions... :)
Thanks to Robert Prater for lending me his drill. I might need it for a while longer. See below.
Dropbrackets
The dropbrackets are on. MikeL, damn you tweaked those babies good. :) The ride is sooooo much better! Rides more like a caddie. Now I just need some 5150's or something. :D

JCR 1-ton Steering
I'm annoyed. Very annoyed. I drilled and reamed my knuckles perfectly. installed the Tierod and guess what....
Can only turn to the right 1/4 of the way. The tierod hits the Trackbar bolt n bracket on the axle.
Turn it to the left, atleast I get full lock except it hits the front diff cover.
SOOOOOO. I had to decide whether to proceed reaming the pitman arm and just install it with limited right hand turn ability or take a chance and reinstall the stock steering.
I went back to the Stock Steering and just tightened the hell outta the tierod ends. Its REALLLLY sloppy now but atleast I'm not experiencing DW.
If anyone else has installed the JCR offroad 1-ton steering, let me know if you have workarounds. otherwise, JCRoffroad will need to do something to retify the issue.

talked to JCR this morning.. They said that when the tierod is not aligned yet, and the knuckles are either pushed out too far or in too far, it will hit stuff. So I will align it tonight and see how it goes.
