If they close SlickRock and Schoolbus, I will never go to Tellico again.

I thought that Slickrock and Peckerwood was already closed. As far as i'm concerned Windrock is better and not any farther from where I live.

Since when did this sport get cheap? Call me crazy but I would rather pay for a privately owned and maintained 72,000 acre OHV park than deal with the forrestry service closures to MY public land.

Yea well maybe for you since you are so close but for me after I pay gas to get there and admission for me and the twinns it is IMHO not worth it. I can have just as much fun in URE or Tellico and spend a lot less. Especially URE. I dont think its right to charge for the vehical and the people in it. Last time I checked windrock was $45/day. If I wheeld two days its be $100 pluse camping cost plus fuel. I cna go to URE for about $200 total cost for the day and still have fun. I know this is not a cheap sport/hobby but come on dont you thik what they charge is a little high?

I can understand where you are coming from about the expense, but on the other hand at windrock you are paying $15 per person per day for the insurance, maintenence and the fact that it's a LARGE spot of private land the government doesn't affect them nearly as much as other areas. Personally I don't mind paying $88 for me and the same for my fiance to have use of the area for a year. We are up there atleast 2 times a month and even though it is convient, I have yet to see another OHV park that offers the varity of windrock. For that reason, I will continue to support them for many years.

Have you gone cookoo? Yes I have, it happened some years ago :dunce: !
"Freedom isn't free, it costs a hefty f#@&kin' fee" .... Team America, we kick ass! :us:
I do want to try Mountainside off road park. My distaste for government controlled anything (other than the military) runs far and deep, farther than I care to type now.
Windrock, Mountainside, The Superlift Park in Arkansas, the late great Paragon, all private property. I will ALWAYS pay more to an entrepreneur for use of his property than to the goverment for access to "public" lands for my sport of choice.
Mountainside $10.00 a head, Windrock $15.00 a head, I know by the amount of cash you've got in Bud's XJ that the $5.00 difference is not going to kill you.:D
Come round my site at the Crawl, always a cooler full!

Back to the topic at hand, I just glanced through the proposal letter and if they are going to go through all that trouble why don't they just pave the whole system?

Don't get me wrong if there was a decent park that was close I would wheel it too. Especially with gass the way it is. As for paving the whole system that would kinda defete the purpose of the system. Personally I think the FS needs to get a pair and tell the TU guys to prove that there is sediment as a direct result of the ohv use.

I wasn't saying they need to pave it. I was saying in response to the letter, it seems like they use the term "high clearance vehicle" a lot. In the past when I have heard that term it is referring to something like a stock 4wd truck. I might be wrong but if that's the cas then they need to just pave it. That way the trout fishers don't get the wheels dirty on their XXXXing subarus.
