to talk a complete computer retard through "image hosting" and posting pictures on this site? I finally broke down and took a few pics of the heep and am still too stupid to do anything with them. It is safe to assume that anything you can add should be written at the "USA Today" level (7th grade reading level) or below. I can turn a computer on and off, but beyond that, I'm just guessing on most stuff.
TIA

Go to Photobucket.com. Set up an account a lot like you do here. Click upload pictures and find the ones you want to upload. Once they are uploaded on photobucket you will see a thumbnail size print of your pic. Below that is several different ways you can "link" the photo
It will say
Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML
IMG code
Click on the Img code link, it will automatically copy the link, Then right click in the body of your post and click "paste" This will put the link to the pic already surrounded by the img code you need and your pic will appear.

It's pretty simple and pretty confusing at the same time. I bet they have a sticky around here that describes this better than I'm going to do.
Here is the simplest way I can think of.
Upload your picture to a picture hosting site. Basically this is just a web server that will display your picture when someone goes to that url.
In your message just type in "[ IMG]http://yourhost.com/blahblahblah/jeep.xj[/IMG]"
For example. I have my own web servers and my own domain, so I can host my own pictures. I have a picture at http://muckleroy.com/images/jeep_lift19.jpg
If I want to display that picture in this posting I just type in...
http://muckleroy.com/images/jeep_lift19.jpg
And it looks like this...
http://muckleroy.com/images/jeep_lift19.jpg
**Note I have added a space to the command so you can see it, otherwise it would try to display a picture.
Let me know if you understand this, and if you need help with the hole picture hosting thing.

I'll give that a shot and hopefully never have to ask another question about it........ Thanx for the time and explaination. Assuming I understand correctly, I'll be able to share my $200.00 toy for flameage, but hey, that's why we do why we do...... right?
I'm just trying to build anticipation, now........
not working, huh.......
yet?
O.K. I'll go give it a shot and leave you alone!
Thank you

Photobucket has a deal where you can automaticly set the sizes to whatever size you want.
Right above the upload button you will see a thing that says "max img size" with the option to change it.
No matter what size of image you send it will always display the size you want.

I saw that, I was afraid to change it 'cuz I'm a wuss-- thanks again, I'll try shrinking things for the sake of everyone!!!

You can use START > Accessories > Paint to manipulate your images prior to sending them to chum bucket.
You might want to CROP your images as well.
MS Paint (above) will allow you to resize the picture as well.
A good rule of thumb: Never never never save your changes over the original picture. Always do a Save As to another file name.

If you are just trying to resize in order to post on the web, its better to let photobucket do it anyway, Much easier and it doesn't mess with the originals.
