Looking for an Atlas 4 speed tech write up for an install

Cruzin Illusion

Just wondering if there is any good tech write ups with pictures for an atlas 4speed install??? A 2 speed install would help also. I was also looking for things that might bring unexpected costs to this upgrade.

cruzin, have read many things about your rig...hows it doing/looking these days?

It's doing fairly well. Just had to put a new rear axle housing in it because we bent the last one. Sometime in the process of blow our rear drive shaft apart, bending te truss forward 2", bending the 44 axle housing to the point of no repair, we have a ticking noise on decel. I have been out of town on business for a couple of months and really want to get home to find out what the noise is. I am thinking it is the transfercase and that is why I am looking for information on installing an atlas. This will be the second transfercase we will have broken, if thats what it is, in the last two years. SO I would like to install something that will not break. We wheel the XJ pretty hard so this is not a big suprise that things come apart on occation. It just weird how everytime I think I am done with it, I am upgrading something else. If it is the transfercase and we install an Atlas then I think the only thing on the list left is a stroker.

I put up some pics of my install. It's pretty straight forward, except the location and mounting of the third shifter, which is all up to you.

Thank you this helps. How much modification did you do to the floor area to get it to fit. I am just trying to get all of what I need to do to get mine installed. I figured the install of the transfercase would be straight forward. Your information on the shift arms helped.
