We picked this 96 XJ up for $100.00 and a quick suspension swap..
Obviously the drivers side has seen better days.. But for $100 bucks.. Totally worth it.. Pictures will do the talking..

Looks Awsome...whats the overall lift height so far?
AZXJ
May 28th, 2008, 16:51
5.5 front 6 rear.. Rear will settle some in the next few months so we aren't worried. Also once the Bumpers are built and installed along with the winch it will loose some height..

Yes they were removed after the photo.. PFFT.. After all the money sunk into LA, springs, gears, lockers, tires, hell the steering alone is worth more then your $500 :P The cage goes in soon as do the seats and harnesses.

i hate to be a sourpuss, but i thought that welded-on tow hooks were bad juju. something about insufficient weld penetration into the thicker metal of the tow hook. but then if it was jb welded, im sure it would be fine:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: !
i would hate to see a pull done on hooks mounted that way, and the weld experience catestrofic (sp?) failure:doh: . esspecially prone to it if the welder did not bevel down the thicker metal and and add filler metal to build the material back up, tieing in the two pieces as one. i dont mean to lecture:lecture: , im just trying to provide feedback for potential improvements.
if you need me to provide a more detailed explanation, feel free to call me Dave.

Steel hook is chrome plated.. Plating was removed for the weld.. :D
Since the winch will be mounted in this bumper the tow hook won't be used, except to secure the winch hook.. Thanks for looking out for us.. :D

Actually the tow hooks are completly functional, Yes they are weld on, I have done this for years and have Never!! had a failer. It is stronger than the factory mounts on rigs that use non grade bolts. I can easily drill and add bolts though!!:)

Love the hood, love the skids and longarms! Plus the body work on the rear end looks really good. Only little thing I noticed is that some of the welds on the bumper look like my welds.
