Building a 44/60 for my 4.0/5spd. 6.5" RC lift. Rear coils enroute with F&R long arms. To run 37 to 39" tires. DD/ week-end beater. 10-15 minute commute. 4:88 or 5:13's? anyone?:helpme:
when i was running 4.0l aw4 np231 4.88 and 36 and 37 i was not happy at all. i had to gun the motor alot on the rocks it was ok on the sand and trails
then i went to 4.0l aw4 np241 4.88 and 37 it was better on the rocks but 4:1 sucked on the trails and
know im 4.0l aw4 np231/241 4;88 and 37 and very happy. it great on the sand trail and rocks. i love all the options
with all that said 36s is pushing 4.88 and 37 is to much if your going to be on the rocks, my .02 is 5.13. i have a friend running 39.5 and 5,13 and he says it just a bit to high and ended up adding a doubler
What 5 speed? If it's a 3550 you have a 4 to 1 first and MAY live with the 488. But If you llke big rocks. I say do the 513.
If it's a AX 15 the you have a 3.85 first and without a special Tcase I would go with the 513.

AW4, Atlas 4 speed, 5:38's and 38's. first gear; 3.8 selection on the atlas and the 5:38's give me a standard crawl of 57ish to 1. Perfect for low tech trails or moderate obsticles. For the fire roads i toss the atlas to 1:1 for 20:1ish ratios. For the real crawling i drop it down to 152:1 and walk anything i want.

5.13's and 36's and an ax-15 is great trail ratio... it works perfect for me but its a 55 mph beast... at 75 its screamin under the hood..... yeah ive had it there its interesting......
