89 Xj Brake questions (wj swap)

We just finished the WJ master cyl. and brake booster swap.

The brakes work good, but there is hardly any peddle. Have already bled the brakes.

Any suggestions?

Did you swap in the Proportioning valve too?? That may help.....

Bleed them again.

Then bleed them a third time.

i did the swap on my 89 and had to bleed a few times.

did you bench bleed the master?

Look for leaks....after all the bleeding if the pedal does not stiffen up. You may have to remove the master cylinder and check for leaks between it and the booster.
I just did this swap on my 89 and I can lock 35's down whenever I want---and the pedal is high and stiff.

You should also pull the rear drums (if you still have them and not disks) and check the wheel cylinders for leaks.
