how would i look up gears for a xj dana 44? certain spline? reverse cut? what? thanks in advance

What do you mean look up gears?
As in what it has in it? XJ rear D44s are low pinion standard cut. 30 spline shafts.

Take it apart and count the splines on the shafts. To find out the gears, spin the tire one revolution, and count how many times the driveshaft turns. If the driveshaft turns 3.5 times for one tire revolution, you have 3.55 gears.

i'm wanting to get 4.56 gears and when i started looking them up there was like 6-7 different dana 44s. i need a low pinion 30 spline?
