I have been serching on the forum for the last couple days trying to find the setups some of you guys have. Right now I have a pioneer head unit with 50 Watts per channel with the stock speakers in front and I modified the hatch to hold 6X8's in the back. (would have gone with 6X9's but couldn't find any with a shallow enough basket). Right now looking at installing a sub. I am considering going with an enclosure 8" or 10" sub with whatever size amp is necessary. Or possibly installing a sub in the useless compartment is in the trunk (same place the XJ pod goes). I am slightly concerned about space. What sort of things have you guys tried? What worked what didn't? Any advice would be awesome!

Thanks

Brandon

Not sure if you saw this (http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92761) thread a few down from yours. You might want to read through it.

Thanks. Some how I didn't use any of the right key words to get that thread in my searches. Should look at the ones on top from now on.

I want to make a fiberglass enclosure for the area you mentioned.

I did it before in an S-10 blazer. Used as much wood as I could and really layed down the fiberglass thick. It worked and looked great. I had material covering the whole thing, including the recessed speaker, and I had people convinced my 2 6.5's and 2 6x9's were bumping that hard!

If you decide to use fiberglass.... Lay down cheap aliminum foil where your going to glass. That way it comes right out and easy clean up. That stuff smells STRONG. Do it in a well ventilated area and if it gets on ANYTHING it will stay there for a long time. It will ruin your clothes and stay on your skin until it wears off.

Other than that.. it's pretty easy. Hopefull I get around to it soon, I have a 10 sitting in my garage waiting for me to start the project.

I also have a simple Pioneer head that's 50w per channel. I have Pioneer 100w 6"ers in the front doors and Pioneer 120w 6x8's (mustang/mazda size) in the rear doors. I just acoustically sealed the door panels and placed some dynamat around this weekend and now it sounds great with no buzzing. I also have a Low-pass filtered 300w Pioneer 2-channel amp driving an old skool subbox with two mdx 8's. Altogether it sounds perfect for my jazz and zappa as well as the bass-thumpin' crap my kid plays...
