Someone posted a while ago (a year? two years?) a link to a service that lets you ship vehicles by rail crosscountry. Now that I'm interested in it.... I can't find it. Any leads on that? I'm planning on shipping my jeep in a year to Alaska and fly there to meet it there :)

Drive-away/auto shipping.

If it goes by rail, it's shipped (by boat/barge) from Seattle, WA. to Seward, AK.

Actually making long term trip plans for 2010 (a group of folks :D )
After you come back I'll consider you to be the "advanced scouting party" and I'll grill you for information :D

If you're not careful, I just might weasel my way in...it's long been a dream of mine to wheel my jeep in AK and then drive it back down here, keeping as close to the Pacific as possible...

Have you thought about putting it in a container on a ship. 2 XJ's would fit in one. I'm thinking since your in southern Cal. that might be an option.
